So will they start to u turn again when fewer hotels want to collect this money for them? So all I have to do is get my Malaysia counterparts or someone local to book and check in for me, and there i dont have to pay what tax liao. And then suddenly, more locals are staying in their own hotels, and visitors start to stay on the street. Silly. http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/5000-malaysian-hotels-start-imposing-tourism-tax KUALA LUMPUR • •Some 5,000 hotels around Malaysia have started implementing a new tourism tax for foreign visitors. Foreign tourists are charged a flat rate of RM10 (S$3.20) per night per room, while Malaysians and permanent residents are exempted. "We will impose a RM10 flat rate from five-star to zero-star hotels for foreign tourists, and Malaysians will be exempted from the tax across all classifications of hotels," Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz told Parliament last week, as quoted by The Star newspaper. He said his ministry had estimated that the government would be able to collect RM210 million a year, based on an average occupancy rate of 60 per cent of the 237,391 rooms currently registered with the government. Get The Straits Times newsletters in your inboxSIGN UP The plan to introduce the tourism tax had been controversial, especially in Sabah and Sarawak, which were worried fewer tourists would visit the two East Malaysian states. The government had initially planned to charge between RM2 and RM20 per night, depending on the type of accommodation. Malaysian Association of Hotels president Sam Cheah Swee Hee said hotel operators started charging the tourism tax on Friday. "Not all hotel operators are ready. We will do it manually until the system is ready," he said. He added that hoteliers would submit their tax collection to the Customs and Excise Department by next month. The department is taking a "friendly approach" to encourage hotels and lodging operators to register for the tourism tax, said its director-general, Datuk Seri Subromaniam Tholasy. "We will not be harsh as the announcement of the tax came a little late," he added. The government announced early last month that the tourism tax was to be enforced from Friday. Mr Subromaniam said the department would try to contact hotel operators that have not registered, rather than chase them to quickly do so. The number of registered accommodation providers so far is 5,000, out of the estimated 10,000 establishments nationwide. "We are giving hotel operators another month. We expect all to register with us by the end of September," he added. Bernama news agency reported that hoteliers must display the newly introduced tax rate separately from the room rates. Malaysian Association of Hotels (Sarawak Chapter) honorary secretary-general John Teo Peng Yew said hotel and resort operators need to adhere to the new ruling, following a recent meeting with the Finance Ministry and the Customs and Excise Department.

With a spec sheet reading much like a child's ultimate Top Trump card, the Devel Sixteen - seen here for the first time at the 2013 Dubai motor show - is the definition of insanity. Its mid-mounted V16 engine produces a claimed 5000hp (yes, five thousand), which will catapult the the Devel from 0-60mph in 1.8 seconds. In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, 1.8 seconds is now...until now. As for the hypercar's top speed, you'll see 560kph, apparently. That's 348mph in real money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl3Uy7CLCsI&feature=player_embedded Looking like the result of a horrifying breeding experiment between a Lamborghini Veneno and a Pagani Zonda R, the Sixteen certainly looks the part, even if it does have the windscreen wiper from a 1980s Mercedes-Benz, the solid brake discs of a family hatchback and a front end so flimsy that the guy polishing the lint off it manages to knock it out of position. The Devel Sixteen is reported to cost $1M (£620,000) and three clients are understood to have already placed orders. If the hypercar's power figures were to be even half of those claimed, then the Devel Sixteen would appear to be pretty good value for money. Until then, we'll keep our eyes peeled for those flying pigs... From http://www.carthrottle.com/post/the-devel-sixteen-is-a-5000hp-v16-hypercar-of-horrors/

How come no one want a $5k job?! Looks like our youngsters nowadays don't want to work hard! If it's easy money come, meaning it's money go away. We must learn that as long as we work hard and it's a decent job, that's nothing to be ashamed of!

First, local radio DJ, actor and getai veteran Marcus Chin made the news after he began dating his personal assistant, Miss Eileen Cheah, while still married to his wife, 54-year-old Murong Ying. Now, the 57-year-old is in the news again, after his estranged wife is claiming a monthly maintenance allowance of S$5,000, which Chin has allegedly promised her earlier. According to Shin Min Daily News, she had also asked him to give her S$1m to return to Taiwan. Through her lawyer, Mr Sng Kheng Huat, she is also asking for $20,000 to be put in a trust fund for her by Chin. Mr Sng claims this is because Madam Murong does not trust Chin after he left her for Miss Cheah, despite the ex-wife giving up her Taiwan citizenship to be with Chin in Singapore. Their separation, in October 2008, was initiated by Chin. When they separated, he wrote her a letter saying he would give her $5,000 a month. And he paid her that sumfor eight months. But for several months after that, he reduced the amountto $1,000, the court heard. In November last year, the court ordered him to give Madam Murong $3,000 a month and another $600 for the HDB loan instalment. Madam Murong then asked for the sum to be increased to $5,000, what Chin had promised in his letter. On Monday afternoon in the Family Court, Mr Sng cross-examined Chin in a three-hour session, reported The New Paper. Details of Chin's 'splurges' were read out by Mr Sng, such as a party held by him and his girlfriend when their baby girl was a month old in September. The party had amounted to $48,000. He also mentioned two pieces of jewellery worth nearly $1,600 that were charged to his credit card in May. Another item, a camera, which was bought by his 'mistress' was also brought up, bought using a supplementary credit card that he had given Miss Cheah. Miss Cheah had also signed for a dinner worth $559 in May. Chin disputed that he should hand over $1m to Madam Murong on the basis that she had no relatives in Singapore, and only a few friends when Mr Sng asked if it was reasonable of him to do so. He said: "She married me and got Singapore citizenship. So can we also say, because of that, she earned a million dollars already?

Major govt dept with big budgets and talents. but they operate like fish markets. Not enough parkinig lots than start to build? Worst than buying grocery. When we buy grocery, we try to keep enough stocks. LTA over release COE in the past few years. HDB did not respond to build more parking lots. Like that anybody also can be gehment.
