My first car was a used Fiat back in 2013-2014 bought off sgcarmart. But never considered it to be my first because I got my license revoked from drink driving. People learn from their mistakes and I have learnt from mine for good http://m.sgcarmart.com/articles/articleinfo.php?CT=n&AID=25549

Hi folks, probably feeling a tad suicidal or something but was wondering if any of you here owned fiats before? I saw a listing for a used Fiat 500 manual and got me tingling abit. Was wondering if it is really as horrific as it was thought to have been? Or perhaps in some ways, the drive and ownership is somewhat rewarding? or the tradeoffs perhaps? Some tips of the trade or some some? Any tip would be good. Thanks

Fiat shows off its new Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Fiat's more hardcore division has just unveiled another special variant based on its cute supermini, the 500. Called the Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition, it is a celebration of Yamaha and Fiat's new partnership in Moto GP which features team riders, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. The uprated 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition Abarth 500 gets 158bhp, up 20bhp, a free-flowing air filter by BMC, retuned suspension with Koni shocks, a Record Monza exhaust and 17-inch rims. It can be had in six colours but don't expect it to reach our shores as far as we know... -

Fiat has chosen a unusual way to celebrate the production of the 500,000th 500 mini just 31 months after its launch. The Italian automaker is going to create a special edition version of the 500, whose surface is entirely covered by 1,500 photos displaying the faces of Fiat 500 customers, celebrities and fans. Starting from 3 May 2010, those interested to have their image printed on the Fiat 500 can book a place on the car by logging on to www.fiat500.com and use the special application showing a plan view of the Fiat 500. They can then book one of the free spaces online by sending a photograph. Fiat said that seventy per cent of the places are reserved for Fiat 500 owners. The special "Fiat 500 Thousandth" is expected to be ready three weeks after the booking stage is concluded and will be featured by the Italian carmaker in forthcoming events and international motor shows.

In the world of modern technology, downsizing is the word. I could recall that twenty years ago, the size of a handphone could make it double up as a self defense tool. Fast forward to the 21st century, a handphone could fit into your right pocket with ease and could perform functions beyond your imagination. Back to the automobile industry, the word 'downsizing' does not refer to the physical size of the car, but points to the capacity of the engine. The founder of this trend is none other than Volkswagen, whose renowned 1.4L twincharged direct injection engine has won the 'International Engine of the Year' award for 2009. Volkswagen is not alone these days. Fiat takes a further step and in my opinion, embraces the concept of miniaturization with its upcoming 900cc two-cylinder engine. The new powerplant is Euro5 compliant and makes use of Fiat's Multiair and turbocharing technologies. It will make its debut in the Fiat 500 come 2010, and other A and B segment vehicles in the firm's stable. Two variants of the engine will be launched, generating 80 bhp and 105 bhp respectively. They will be followed by a 65 bhp naturally aspirated unit and a version propelled by compressed natural gas, CNG. The two potter is lighter and more compact in design as compared to a 4 cylinder engine with similar power. The C02 emission and fuel consumption figures would probably bring a smile to the faces of the folks at Greenpeace. More importantly, such an engine would give the Singapore driver a reason to smile when it comes to road tax payment.
