A subtle spoiler integrated into the trunk lid can be seen as well, while the dashboard appears to be fully camouflaged. It's likely a sign the cabin will be completely revamped, possibly by adopting the dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch driver's display and a 14.9-inch infotainment as seen in the iX and i4 electric models running on iDrive 8.

Hi guys, Need some advice on whether it's worthwhile to self import 5 series (G30) or X3 (G01) from UK to Singapore... I am looking at it purely from the perspective of cost savings. I have business there, so I am familiar with the import process (not cars though), the savings seemed to be quite significant, although there's no local warranty / maintenance included: 520i G30: S$150k-160k (vs S$240k+ locally) X3 G01: S$170k-180k (vs S$210k+ locally) Hopefully someone with experience can shed some light on this? My primary concern is the repair / maintenance costs of BMW, which seem to be the highest among continental cars, with the lowest reliability.

We are not sure which part of the ECP highway this is but what is clear is that the camera car was driving at his own pace on lane 2 before (what looks like) a group of 3 BMW F10 5 series overtaking the camera car. Kudos to BMW for building a decently strong car. Despite the seriousness of the crash, the car still looked like it held up pretty well. Spotted on the facebook page 'private hire sg cars/partners - grab, gojek, ryde, tada etc', someone posted a photo of a fender bender between a BMW and a Toyota and we were shocked by how much you can claim if you were involved in such a accident. This should not cost too much to repair right? Oh wait till you see the final amount submitted by the surveyor. Yup, you saw it right. The cost of repairs on the BMW E60 5 Series would amount to a staggering $88,000. To put that into perspective, you can buy yourself a similar BMW coupled with a new 10-year COE and lots of change left for petrol and parking. Others on the post agreed too that this is one really over inflated amount. That said, there were some who thought that the is not the actual amount that was asked for... Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on who's point of view, that is the discharge voucher which you could say is going to be the actual amount paid out. The BMW 5GT was created with a number of combinations of car types in mind and that can be quite confusing to what sort of a segment this car fits in. But don't let that be the only reason why you should dislike it because its unique looks will help make it stand out in the sea of sedans that have become quite a boring sight. The boot volume has been increased to 500 litres, up from the previous 440 litres. Also generous is the ample head and legroom, which will make the three rear passengers very satisfied. Predictably, despite its heft of over two tonnes, the 5GT handles with remarkable alacrity. While the heft of the car can still be felt around bends, the 306 horses and 400Nm of twisting forces make it very forgivable. BMW's in-line gorgeous-sounding six-cylinders powering the 3.0-litre engine are also capable of delivering a strong and continuous wave of torque, allowing the car to pull away from 0 to 100km/h in just 6.1 seconds.

What does XL stand for? Q3. Will 520i underpower due to same engine as 320i as 156bhp for its weight? I saw the pricing difference no much for 320 and 520 but 5 series have larger sapce and features like i-Drive and eagle Xenon light. I read the review 320i gives 9.8 sec (1475KG); FC 12.3km/l and 520i give 10.6 sec (1490KG); FC 8km/l. Q4. It seems that there is a different engine to provide 170HP for 520i. This is a PI model right? Q5. Any recall and potential problems on these 2 models from 2008? Thx for inputs.

The premium German automaker will be offering sedan and touring variants for the BMW 5 Series Exclusive Sport Edition. The Japanese can choose a 2.0-litre diesel or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine for both variants. These exclusive 5 Series will be limited to only 300 units, featuring a complete M-Sport package for its exterior. Meanwhile, on the interior, customers will get the comfort from a three-spoke M steering wheel, sports seats wrapped in Cinnamon Brown leather material, a Heads-Up Display, an upgraded audio system and a lot more to mention. BMW has officially ended production of the E60 BMW M5 after five years of production. 20,548 units of the fourth-generation M5 were assembled during this time, the majority of which were saloons. Only 1,025 BMW M5 Touring units were built since the five-door's release in 2007. The E60 M5 featured a 5.0-liter V10 petrol engine that delivers 509 horsepower, and up to 520Nm of torque. Mated to either a seven-speed SMG or six-speed manual transmission, the car was capable of a 0-100 km/h time of 4.2 seconds. Though the car was theoretically able to hit 337 km/h, its speed was electronically-limited to 249 km/h. BMW will likely begin modifying their Dingolfing, Germany, factory to prepare for the F10 M5 production. The fifth-generation M5 is expected to get the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the X5 M and X6 M. It will potentially be tuned to deliver 570 hp and up to 680Nm of torque.

The sales of the new BMW 5 Series seem to be pretty strong over here as I had observed a handful of them plying the streets of Singapore and also in Malaysia. I have even managed to catch a glimpse of the really weird looking semi pointless 5 Grand Turismo being driven around. And as with every new launch motoring enthusiasts would want to know when will the full monty M series models be launched. So to satisfy those hardcore M fans, and also those who are realists, who are those that dream of owning a M5 but can afford a 525, 530 or that sort, BMW has officially launched their M-Sport aero detailing for the 5 series. The first peek of the official M-Sport body addenda for the BMW 5 series was recently leaked by the BMW enthusiasts at 5Post Forum. The pictures (meant for a UK sales brochure or press release) clearly show a new front bumper that has a little of the M-Sport 3 series front bumper air inlets, side skirts and a rear bumper valance. There is also a discreet rear bootlid spoiler. As for handling, the M-Sport 5 series sits lower due to the M-Sport suspension. The suspension is coupled with the 'standard' M-Sport 18inch double spoke rims which will come with a M-Sport specified 5 series. There is a 19inch option rims with a thinner double spoke design that can be specced at a price. If you noticed from the pictures, 19inches look small on this new 5 series. And that's pretty shocking in a way. As for the interior, we can tell that there is a smaller, maybe fatter three spoke steering wheel with the 'M' badging on it and a pair of sportier, body hugging front seats. The rest of the interior looks pretty much like any 2010-2011 5 series. I do not even see any alloy pedal covers that would make this interior even better looking. But then again these are leaked shots, so BMW may spring out some changes or some additions soon. So, there you have it. The BMW M-Sport 5series to please those who want an M5, but cannot afford one as yet so they can get some of the looks (and handling) for their normal 5 series. Well, with other commitments, sometimes the best motoring dreams have to be put on hold and this is a way to realize a part of those dreams.

Just as the new sixth-generation BMW 5 Series sedan goes on sale in Europe, a new station wagon variant has been unveiled. Like the previous generations of the 5 Series Touring, this one is essentially the same as the sedan, only with the roof extending straight back to enclose a substantially larger cargo area. All the fancy new technologies that we've already witnessed in the 5 Series Gran Turismo and sedan is carried over into the Touring. That includes the surround-view cameras, Variable Damper Control and 8-Speed Sport automatic gearbox etc. A selection of gas and diesel four- and six cylinder engines will be offered. The range-topping 535i is powered by the new inline 6 3.0L twin-scroll turbo with direct injection, generating 300hp. Single-turbo versions of the 2.0-liter inline-four and 3.0-liter inline-six diesels are also available with 184 hp and 245 hp respectively. As a Touring model, it is more utilitarian than a normal 5 Series saloon. Its storage space has grown by 60 liters to 560 liters with the seats up, or 1,670 liters with the seats folded down. If necessary, the seats can be fixed in a more-upright position, adding 30 liters of space in the rear. Like all modern BMWs, efficiency is not forgotten. The BMW 520d Touring is the first 5 Series to come with Auto Start-Stop, reducing the engine idle period when coming to a short stop.

Having introduced the next generation 5-Series sedan, BMW's M division is now concentrating on the development of the flagship version of the series, the M5. The hotly anticipated M5 will make its first public appearance at the 2010 Geneva Show in March next year. The Bavarian automaker has decided to power the new M5 using the new 4.4L bi-turbo V8 that debuted in the X5M and X6M, ditching the current model's exotic V10 powerplant. In the X5M and X6M, the bi-turbocharged unit produces an output of 555 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 680Nm of peak torque, available between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. In comparison, the current M5's naturally aspirated V10 makes 507HP and 520Nm of peak torque. Details on the new M5's engine specs remain scarce, though it has been suggested that the direct-injection V8 may be further honed, boosting output closer to the 600HP mark. The new V8 will not only be more powerful than the V10, but also more compact in size, lighter in weight and more fuel efficient with lower CO2 emissions. Along with the new powerplant, the 2011 M5 will get a re-engineered version of the BWM M3's seven-speed twin-clutch transmission (DCT). The new M5 will benefit from suspension, brake and steering system upgrades to further improve handling and driver's feedback. Recently, it has been announced in the news that Singapore will be getting a dedicated dealership specializing in BMW's M division automobiles. This new M5 will probably be the most hotly anticipated model in the Lion City's very own M division showroom. For all you M5 fans out there, probably it's time to start saving up!
