MCF-forumers, I am looking to purchase a used 350Z roadster. However, I was looking for some advice first - 1. Anyone knows if the auto gearbox can take torque mods and how much can the gearbox take? 2. Any cautions from bros who used before? 3. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

We all know Porsche's new 991 GT3 is a pretty fast car considering that it has 475bhp and can do more than 300km/h if the roads allow so. So, this guy in his Nissan comes up to GT3 and tries to out drag it with his 350Z. Of course the 350Z has to be tuned in order to even stand a chance. According to the video, it is equipped with a supercharger that would increases output to at least 420bhp. Then, all of a sudden, something else comes up from behind and surprises them at an estimated 240km/h. Watch the video and find out what happens... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dq2lh51G_c

It's no longer a secret that car modifications are something favoured by plenty of car owners out there. In fact, some even feel proud if they are able to modify their car and give it a cooler look than any other cars out there. This is also felt by Kelvin, a young man from Bandung, Indonesia. Kelvin is an owner of a Toyota Ist, a hatchback from Japanese automaker Toyota. At first, Kelvin wasn't really a modification enthusiast and he was only used to dressing up his car a little. Nevertheless, living among several extreme car modification enthusiasts, he was eventually plagued by the car modification virus as well. As a result, his dressed up Toyota Ist changed completely. The first thing that came to his mind was how his car could catch the eyes of passer bys. For this, he chose a candy gold paint. According to Kelvin, not only can this colour catch people's eyes, it also has a high artistic value. It took two months for the Signal Kustom modification house to paint the car completely and, quite perfectly, too. The result was indeed eyecatching. However, a nice body paint wouldn't be complete if not accompanied by nice body kits as well. Therefore, Kelvin decided that he would use a VeilSide product and finally chose one that's actually meant for use with the Nissan 350Z Fairlady. As you can tell, the installation of this body kit required a lot of work due to the different curves and dimensions on the car from those of the Fairlady. Things got even trickier when Kelvin demanded that the body kits should be easily detachable. Unfortunately, not all parts of the car, such as the bumpers, could be made so. Kelvin's demand for the detachable body kits could only be applied on the front spoiler, front/rear fenders, side skirts, and the engine hood which featured air vents on the centre and the sides of it. The next thing to pay attention to was the rims. To match the bloating fenders, Kelvin had to use 8.5" rims (front) and 10" rims (rear). For the design and appearance of the rims to look attractive, Kelvin decided that he would use six-spoke rims painted in gold, too, just like the body of the car, surrounded by a chrome accent. For the interior, Kelvin only applied minor modifications. He modified the audio and applied leather material to the seats. Unfortunately, though, all the modifications seem useless in the end. You can say it was nothing but wasting money. For your information, though, Kelvin's Toyota Ist did win several trophies. Costing Rp150 million in total, the Ist was reverted to its original look with only minor modifications just within a month after the makeover was completed. We don't think it's worth the hard work and the total cost incurred in modifying his car. What do you think? Photo credit: Kompas Otomotif

It seems that there are some car owners out there who just can't take any shred of criticism about their cars...even if the criticism is shared by many... Over the weekend, I woke up to find a rather humourous email (titled: wildest Z on the planet) from Jim Deaubler about how much he doesn't appreciate what I said about the 350Z Roadster in a review I wrote about the 370Z Roadster. Here's the email from Jim Deaubler... "I thought I would drop you a line on the comments that were made about my car. First of all, before you print your b-------t get the facts straight. The car was on ebay 2 times and the 2nd time ended up with a $32,005 bid which did not meet the reserve. When someone uses the word ABSURD I find it offensive especially coming from people like you and what you drive, The fact is the car had 78 bids and 43 bidders. I would love to see what you drive or have built. My car goes from 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 188mph all documented by Sears Point Raceway. What does your do.? I really could car less about your comments ..I just look at the source...but what does bother me is when you don't get your facts correct. Maybe you should start writing for the Hollywood gossip mags since a lot of your comments are not based on fact. Have a great day and maybe some day you will read and get the facts correct before you decide to sit down and shoot your mouth off about something you don't know about." As you can see, Jim rambled on about how his car goes a million miles per hour and how everyone on eBay is tripping over themselves to buy it off him. Well...congratulations Jim for having such a cool ride. I'm sure your million horsepower machine would put a Mach 2.5 F-15 to shame. Even so, my opinions about the 350Z remains. It still looks like a coupe missing its roof and the interior is tackier than it should be for a premier sports car from Nissan. That said, as mentioned in my review. The 370Z has made up for everything that was wrong with the 350Z and more. Unfortunately though, the 3.5-litre V6 in the 350Z still gives a better sound and I think Jim should be glad about that. I do feel complimented by Jim's email. For one, I'm happy that if my review garners this sorta response, I'm probably doing something right. Secondly, I'm happy that my readership spreads as far as the US. Nevertheless I do have a small tip for Jim. I'll be careful driving 188mph on Sears Point Raceway though. Lest your magnificent machine connects with the wall. Then again, the 350Z might look better after that.

Just bought a 2nd hand 350z Fairlady, however it doesnt come with any amazing accessories. It only have a radio ;[ Several questions : Where and how much does it cost to install a GPS? (The 1 that fits in the middle of the panel of fairlady, the box allocated for GPS) Also, any advice on upgrading the sounds system to something shiok, something that when u play the music can feel the base ;D I am kinda noob in such things ;( Please advice. I dont have any budget, but preferably something within the range of 300-400 for gps and 500-1500 for sound system . ;D thx!

What used to be called a high cc but yet slow car.. is no longer slow! The current model of the 350z now push out 313hp out of its 3.5L engine(Previously was 280hp). Went to TC motors the other day as my friend wanna change car. Am really impress with the current look of the 350z. It looks so much better now with its new bonnet spotting a sportier curve instead of the old ah pek style. However, I still feel the car is still for the rich, at 156k++ for the full spec model at TCM, its slightly on the high side for a japanese coupe despite its powerful specs. However, those who opt for a basic model can get it at PI at below 130k. Am really in love with this car, however, my pocket not deep enough to join in the fun. Anyone getting the 350z?

Would greatly appreciate comments from anyone whose test driven both cars. In terms of handling, performance 0-100, 100-200 as well as 1/4mile, braking, if so what brakes has it got. Comfort ? Electronics ? Etc. Cheers PS: Not looking at one of those feedbacks, "this one is too common over the other so I'll choose the latter" thanks

ANy opinions? In terms of consumption, performance, overall maintenence cost. Feel free to post feedbacks bros...

Quoted from another website:- Nissan dealers have had a shock. Now they have to cope with waiting lists and Porsche trade-ins. The drastic change has been brought about by the 350Z. Already a smash hit in Japan and the US, its UK allocation of 840 units for this year sold out within hours. Research shows the Audi TT tops the list of intended trade-ins, followed by Subaru's Impreza. Will the owners of serious sports cars be disappointed when their new machines arrive in mid-October? We've sampled the Japanese-spec version before now, but European models have been substantially revised to suit UK roads and higher speeds, with more spoilers to improve cooling and airflow. The interior has been upgraded, too, and now gets an alloy finish to the steering wheel and switchgear, plus some better-grade plastics. It's enough to make an Impreza driver jealous, but the TT remains superior for looks and feel. Still, all the controls fall readily to hand and the seats move electrically, although it's a surprise to find that the wheel adjusts only for height. However, start up the engine and you will soon forget such quibbles, thanks to a satisfying beefy-sounding exhaust burble. The gearbox has a positive shift, too, and slots between the six ratios with a pleasingly mechanical feel.
