  1. Details of the next generation Porsche Cayenne was released at its launch at the recent Geneva Motorshow. From the images, the new model looks less clumsy as compared to its predecessor thanks to a lowered roofline, steeper angle of the rear tailgate and sharper looking snout. While the front end is distinctly Porsche, the same cannot be said for the boot. It could pass off as an offering from a Japanese make without looking at the logo. The layout of the interior has been given a thorough revamp with the dashboard, center and lower consoles looking very similar to the Panamera sports sedan. The new Cayenne shares its platform with the new Volkswagen Touareg while sharing some mechanical components with the Panamera. Despite growing in length, the new German SUV has shed about 200kg as compared to the outgoing model. Petrol powertrain options will include the VW Group's 3.6-liter V6 petrol with 300HP found in the entry level Panamera, a 4.8-liter V8 (400HP) and a turbocharged version of the 4.8L unit generating 500HP. In addition, the Cayenne will be offered with the same diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain as the Touareg, coupling a 3.3-liter supercharged V6 TSI engine producing 333HP to a 47HP electric motor for a total output of 380HP.
