  1. SINGAPORE - Local billionaire Peter Lim and his son Kiat Lim have joined forces with Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for the soft launch of ZujuGP, a digital platform to connect the football industry including fans, club owners, players, agents and scouts. The company aims to drive communication and commerce in the global football community of four billion fans, allowing them to watch live games virtually, engage with players, buy merchandise and bet, while making it easier for clubs and agents to scout talents. Beta testing for select users should begin in the first half of 2022 as it takes an "incremental approach". Peter, 68, has owned La Liga club Valencia since 2014 and witnessed first-hand how football finances have taken a hit during the coronavirus pandemic. After some discussions with Kiat, a concept emerged in the first quarter of 2020. ZujuGP co-founder Kiat, a 28-year-old businessman who grew up watching Manchester United games with his dad, told The Straits Times: "He has a great passion for football and while I'm not a coder or developer, I love technology and innovation and this all-in football app is a result of both our interests colliding. "We believe that the way to increase revenue in football is through technology and delivering value to fans instead of just passively watching football. "The end game is to be the go-to app for the football community, whether you are a fan, or a young talent looking for opportunities, or a coach looking for players, or anyone looking to get their feet wet in the industry. "I know it's big and huge, but I believe we can create this valuable product by building on the unique position my family is in, with my father being deeply anchored in football as one of the few Asian owners of a top football club." Three of the platform's elements are promoted on its website. ZujuGamePlay will be a "virtual stadium where you can participate as a fan, pundit, bidder or event creator". ZujuGP Exchange will offer a global database of talents, professionals and clubs for hiring opportunities, while ZujuGP Rank is a digital football academy that offers professional drills, specialist training, mentoring, nutrition and rehabilitative conditioning. Kiat shared that there will be a heavy focus on the Asian market, and explained: "Even though its infrastructure may be behind Europe, the fan base and the reach in Asia are huge, and the connectivity is high. We believe this is a market full of untapped potential." Last Wednesday (Oct 13), Ronaldo, whose image rights are owned and administered by Peter's Mint Media Sports, posted on Instagram a ZujuGP promotional video of him starring as a mask-wearing and umbrella-wielding warrior. His changing face masks signal the changing face of football as audiences shift, revenues fluctuate and digitisation and failed breakaways disrupt the industry, according to the company. In five days, the video was viewed more than nine million times, and the man with 356 million Instagram followers said: "I have known him (Peter) for many, many years and to be involved in this project with him makes me so happy; and that the east and west can be finally connected, which makes me even happier." Appreciating the support of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, Kiat said: "Ultimately, we want to build a good product that adds value to everyone's football experience, and it is just as important to let people know about it. "Cristiano Ronaldo's reach is astronomical, so to have his friendly support is definitely a booster for ZujuGP."
  2. Property agent & partner say sorry for rubbishing Grab drivers, delivery riders on live stream. https://theindependent.sg/property-agent-partner-say-sorry-for-rubbishing-grab-drivers-delivery-riders-on-live-stream/ They boasted. They showed off. They poured scorn on delivery riders and disparaged those who depend on them to deliver meals. Then the terrible two apologised. Will their auras change now? A Malaysian property agent and his partner, who is described as an entrepreneurship educator, got flamed online recently for mocking food delivery riders and private hire drivers and calling them “parasites”. Paul Lim, 28, a senior real estate negotiator from Penang, and his partner, Maggie Fong, held a Facebook live stream on Nov 7. It had been intended to recruit more agents to build up their property business targeted at rich people. Towards that end, Mr Lim showed off a watch that he said cost 100,000 ringgit (S$36,000) which he said he had bought from the money he had made. Their boastful presentation seems to have turned many viewers off and even drawn a reprimand from the Malaysian Institute of Real Estate Agents (MEIA). Some viewers called out both of the presenters for disparaging private hire car drivers and delivery riders. As for ordinary folk, the two displayed some amount of scorn, which ended up backfiring. Ms Fong asked in Mandarin, “How rich can those who order takeaway food be?,” which elicited laughter from Mr Lim. “How can you have a future doing food delivery?,” she then added. Ms Fong also said: “Only parasites drive Grab; they have no culture. While she claimed she was not disparaging such jobs, she pushed for better-paying ones, saying that a person’s aura would change if they sold “something with million-dollar price tags to the rich”. People watching the live stream then defended these jobs to the two, underlining that people who work in these sectors are making an honest living. HOWEVER, MS FONG UPSET THE APPLECART FURTHER BY ANSWERING, “ONLY PARASITES DRIVE GRAB, THEY HAVE NO CULTURE”. The backlash was swift, and severe, with netizens roundly condemning the attitude of the pair. On Thursday, Oct 11, the Malaysian Institute of Real Estate Agents (MEIA) issued a public statement that sought to distance itself from the pair. It described the livestream as “most disparaging” and that MEIA neither agrees with nor supports their “insidious” statements. The CEO of the group, K. Soma Sundram, went on record to give his opinion of Mr Lim. “He has set a very bad example and has dented efforts to ensure that real estate negotiators are professionals. He has destroyed all the hard work that we have been doing. The trust levels have gone down.” One news report says that Mr Lim is a “super-agent” who has gotten rich enough to afford a Vellfire, a personal driver and a very expensive watch. Mr Lim issued an apology via a video he posted on Facebook on Nov 9. Speaking apparently tearfully, he said, “I am sorry, please give me a chance to change my ways” and asked viewers not to involve his family and company over his poor judgment. Ms Fong, who was later discovered to be Mr Lim’s aunt and not a real estate negotiator, is also said to have apologised, and is quoted in Malaysia’s Sin Chew Daily as saying she had learned a lesson from the incident. She claims to have wanted to encourage the youth to have better lives. While the original live stream has been taken down, Mr Lim’s apology is still on his Facebook account. /TISG

Get that pancake mix ready at night and you'll be ready to go in the morning. Wake up extra early to sneak into the kitchen and prepare some yummy breakfast for your other half in bed. Breakfast tastes so good but tastes even better when you don't have to prepare it yourself. It's also a good way for you to show off your Betty Crocker side! 2. Custom Heart-shaped Pizza Mmm...pizza. *drools* You cannot go wrong with pizza. What's better than a regular pizza? A pizza in the shape of a heart. What a great way to express your love! So when people tell you that the way into anyone's heart is through their stomach, you better believe them. 3. Slow Dance Anywhere Just dance. Even if you have two left feet, dance. There's nothing that screams romantic more than slow dancing to your favourite ballads. I think the best part about slow dancing is that you can do it anywhere! Ok fine, maybe not in the middle of the shopping mall. But, you can do it at home or at the beach. And if there's a function you have to attend, then be sure to grab your partner and drag them to the dance floor. 4. Trip to a Romantic Destination If you have the cash then why not splurge it on a romantic trip for just the two of you! Surprise your other half with return air tickets to Paris or Maldives and have a splendid time together. Don't switch on your handphones and don't cave in to your need for wifi. Just spend the much needed quality time together, without any distractions. 5. Create A Photo Album Put together all the pictures of your favourite memories together in a photo album. It sounds simple enough but in the age of Facebook and Instagram, no one actually bothers to print out pictures anymore. It's such a sweet gesture and just in case Facebook or Instagram decides to join the fate of Myspace, at least you'd still have pictures to look at in future! 6. Hand-written Letters Nothing is sweeter than taking the time to express your love by writing a hand-written letter to your other half. They'll be smitten by your efforts and will fall further in love with you. Even if your handwriting is the worst thing in the world, just do it. It'll mean the world to your other half. 7. Explore Somewhere New Together "But Singapore is so small, we can't do anything!" Well, someone obviously didn't read our list of 52 things to do in Singapore before you die! There's so many things you probably have not seen or done yet so why not set aside a whole day just to explore those places together! Better yet, you can insta your whole adventure together. Try to think of something that your other half would like to do be it watching F1 or going window-shopping. Instead of waiting for them to tell you what they want to do, suggest it! It'll surprise them and make their day. 9. It's The Little Things It's true when people say it's the little things that matter the most like opening the door for her or reminding him that you care for him every day. You don't need to execute grand gestures just to win their heart. At the end of the day, it's the little things that go a long way. 10. Pamper Them Massages, spa, shopping trips...and food. Lots of food. Treat them like they're the King or Queen for the day and give in to all their demands. Make them feel extra special even though it's no special occasion! It'll make them so happy they're going to love you forever. 11. Serenade Them Well who cares if you can't sing well, it's the thought that counts! You can choose to sing a classic song like 'More Than Words' by Extreme or go with the super cheesy 'Just The Way You Are' by Bruno Mars... ...maybe not. Whatever you pick, make sure it's a love song and not some head-banging metal rock song...you don't want to scare your other half into not dating you ever again. 12. Relive Your First Date Relive your first date, right down to the small details like what you ate and drank. It would surprise your other half that you remembered so much about it and it'll definitely invoke nostalgic feelings. You can choose to spend the rest of the day reminiscing about your past or just talking about the future together. Either way, it's going to be a great second first date. 13. Candlelight Dinner Mmm...dinner. Everything is ten times more romantic if you have candles. Trust me. You can just buy them from supermarkets or drugstores and they come in a whole bunch so it's super worth it. You can have a candlelight dinner cum picnic or just a simple candlelight dinner at home. It's all up to you to decide but a candlelight dinner will definitely add some romance to your date. 14. Spend The Entire Day Watching Romantic Movies The Notebook. A Walk To Remember. Love Actually. These are just some of the movies you can watch to get you started. There's nothing like cuddling in bed, watching a good ol' movie or two together. It's a cheaper alternative to watching a movie in the cinema so why not! 15. Take A Moonlit Walk By The Beach Cliché but absolutely romantic. You don't even have to pay to walk by the beach. Even better is if you manage to catch the sunset! It's going to feel like a scene out of a romantic movie but it's actually for real!!! 16. Cook Their Favourite Meals Mmm...food. If you can't be bothered to make breakfast so early in the morning, or get the candles for a candlelight dinner, why not settle with cooking their favourite meals for lunch or dinner? Your other half would still be touched by your gesture. 17. Write Them A Poem I don't mean the typical roses are red, violets are blue poem. I mean, an actual poem. One of my favourite writer has to be Madisen Kuhn. You can check out her works here and gosh, I never fail to be amazed by the way she writes. Just so you know, she's only seventeen. Yes. You read that right. So if she can write beautiful poetry for anyone, why can't you write one for your other half? 18. Make A Modern Mixtape If only we still lived in the era of cassette tapes, it would be even better. But fret not! Even without cassette tapes, we can still churn our a modern mixtape for our other half by using a CD! Compile all the songs that remind you of your other half and the relationship that you guys have, and present it to them. They're sure to love it. 19. Surprise Them You're lying if you say you hate surprises. I mean, isn't it nice for someone to show up at your workplace one day with a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a dozen cupcakes in the other? Or simply wash the dishes and clean the house for once, that'll definitely please your wife. It is guaranteed to make your other half swoon. Fo'sho. 20. Say I Love You To Them Every Day What else, really? If you don't remind them that you love them before it's too late, you're going to regret it for the rest of your life. Whether you're mad at them or you're glad for their presence beside you, remind them that you love them. Everyone feels insecure at times and it's your job to remind your other half that you still love them, imperfections and all. Romance Isn't Dead! So there you have it! 9. http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_453761.html ZHEJIANG University, famed for its engineering prowess and research strength, will be the Chinese partner of Singapore's fourth university. The collaboration with Zheda, as the university is popularly known in China, completes the three-way partnership of the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SU), linking it with premier institutions in both the East and the West. SU, which had earlier announced its partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, inked the agreement with Zheda on Thursday. It was one of four deals signed at the St Regis hotel between Singapore and China, all witnessed by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao. The leaders, who had a meeting before the signings, also saw the signing of deals on the setting up of a China Cultural Centre, a civil servants exchange programme and the sending of two pandas to Singapore in 2011. Mr Hu, who is here on a three-day state visit, urged Singapore and China to expand on their cultural exchanges during his meeting with Mr Lee, building on the momentous panda transfer and the universities' tie-up.

  11. Have a German supplier in town so it was my turn to drive around on my car, a Skoda Superb 1.8T. My business partner, a loyal Toyota fan, never thought much about my wheels, but when the German supplier sat in my car, he was saying I was a smart guy to get the Skoda Superb, as he owns the current and previous VW Passat and some Audi's in his life. We went on to discuss about the Skoda and how they have VW + Audi parts in the car and the 1.8T engine was from the Audi range of 1.8T engines, from than my business partner was leaning forward and asking alot of question, so our German supplier went on to say this is the best value for money car you can buy on the road, really good and worth the buy. My friend was impressed and asked me more about the car, all I can say is, wait till you see the new one. My German supplier also mentioned that the new Skoda Superbs are available in Germany and the market of Skoda brands are growing, if not for the company VW Passat, he would have gone for a Skoda Superb II.

  13. Knew a girl for months. became a couple. She made me pay for almost everything when we go out. She is very careful with her own money but everytime we go out spending she expect me to pay even pay for her maid and family. Hawker centres, cafes & restaurants. At hawker centres, i will 1st queue & order food for her then only i queue and order food for myself. Including food and drinks i must have queued at least 3 times. And u know each queue can be long esp. during meal times. Once when i didnt order her food but she has to go queue & order her own, she wasnt happy. maybe becos she ended up having to pay her own food tat time. another time, i dropped her off to order food in a restuarant so that i can go find parking space. When i came into restuarant she told me she havent pay for the food. But at this restaurant cashier counter, u will be made to pay right away upon food ordering. I was thinking maybe she told the cashier she didnt have money on her. So she waited for me to come and pay. Even her maid food she asked me to pay. Even when her parents want papers, she got me to buy. Is this normal? Or is it their divine right for girls to expect their guys to pay for everything when they are out? Or am i being too calculative?? Being too easy going (generous etc) and being a carrot seem no difference. No-one like to be the latter. I thought it is more normal for both to pay ie. sometimes guys pay and sometimes gals pay too. though guys pay more times. I am flabbergasted by this all.

  15. An 80 year old lady was being interviewed by the local news station because she had just gotten married - for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation. "He's a funeral director," she answered. "Interesting," the newsman thought. He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living. She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20's, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, later on a preacher when in her 60's, and now in her 80's, a funeral director. The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked her why she had married four men with such diverse careers. She smiled and explained "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go"
