  11. I have seen many shops and free lance painters claiming to be able to paint calipers in a day and some without even removing the wheels! My question is: What kind of paint is used? Without proper baking and prearing the surface to be painted, does the paint last? LPPL if one has gotta paint it again right? Without removing the entire caliper, does it mean the inside of the caliper will not be painted and there will be two colours? The old and the new? For those who has gone this route, please share your experience. I am aksing cause I just removed my calipers to spray them as I believe it will be more thorough.
  12. Amazing thought-provoking painting "Beijing 2008" by Chinese-Canadian artist Liu Yi. The woman with the tattoos on her back is China. On the left, focused intensely on the game, is Japan. The one with the shirt and head cocked to the side ...is America. Lying provocatively on the floor is Russia. And the little girl standing to the side is Taiwan. This painting, named

  16. I have recently found a place that is really suitable for my spray painting biz on cars. However, I am concerned about whether the place, which I am looking to rent, will be allowed for me to conduct my biz. spoke to a number of people and was told that i will need to apply for licence with NEA before i can apply for change of use via ura. however, i went thru the NEA website and everything looks very complicated. As far as i know, the place which i am renting, is classified under B2 zoning. I have also spoke to the mgmt and what i was told is that as long as NEA is okay, they have no problem with me conducting spraying painting biz. I have also called NEA, which they told me that someone will call me back regarding my query on the licences that i need to apply. As per my understanding, the current place is approved for General Industrial (Multiuser). I walk thru the place and found quite a number of heavy industrial company there, which deals with welding of huge metal pipes and etc. However, i do not recall seeing any workshops there. Anyone one who have the experience here can guide me along? I juz want to be sure before I go ahead and confirm the unit with deposit. Thanks all!!
  17. Hi all, I am driving a Sylphy 1.5, 13 months old. Yesterday I realise the sports rim silver start to peel off and inside is black in colour. It is not due to scratches as all my rims are perfect without scratches. I wonder anyone who is driving the same model (2010) has got this problem. I compliant to Tan Chong and is going down and ask for replacement. If posible change all to other model as I am afraid the other 3 will peel off soon also.
  18. Does anyone knows any spray paint shop in the west (jurong) or north which opens till late (around 8pm)? No need high profile or super cheap pricing, as long as can get a decent paint job done quickly is good enough. Is the market average still about $200 to get a bumper repair and respray?
  19. Hi guys, need you guys advise. How much to respray a car? last thursday, a contractor doing a spray painting job at my workplace, the paint particle fall onto my car. He has offer to send my car to polishing and I agree, but after polishing the some of the particle still there. The polisher said the paint may have eat into my paint work. Now, I'm offered respray. Thinking of bringing it back to toyota. I called up toyota and he quoted me $4300 to respray the whole car back to same colour. To me, I think it's a crazy price. So now you guys pls help, I heard of Lye design, is it good? Else, anywhere else got good one? Try to keep it to AMK or Sin Ming area. Thanks in advance.

  24. Hi all, Just like to share a very good & cheap lobang with all of you. I've had a real hard time locating caliper painter for the job. In the market I've only managed to get a few of them right now. However, many of them charges much higher as it involve taking out of wheel and spraying the caliper. There is actually no different for the finishing of our stock calipers by spray or paint as out caliper's surface is uneven and rough. Thus, I have decided to go for the cheaper alternative of painting. Below is a few of the choices. Please do not flame me as I hope this will benefit all the bros here looking for this service, as I had a real hard time locating them in the car market. 1)Name : SOH Brother-shop Service : Spraying Appointment : Only weekday with appointment Price : 2/5 Website : nil 2)Name : Nightz Concepts-shop( Look for dave ) Service : Spraying Appointment : Everyday with appointment Price : 1/5 Website : just google nightzconcepts 3)Name : streetcalipers-freelancer Service : painting. Appointment : Weekend only Price : 5/5 website : www.streetcalipers.blogspot.com I've chose streetcaliper to do this job. Pros: 1)Very good price 2)Did not take out rim as he said he was afraid alignment etc will not be right after wheel being taken out. 3)Very nice finishing, imo same as spraying 4)Very clean job, no stains etc on rim and any other where else. Cons: 1)Long working hours, he did about 4 hours for my ride but I guess it should be about the same with other shops? 2)Need to leave car keys with him because I want to have my lunch at the nearby area, but I did jot down his IC and took a photo of him. He also passed me his student card in exchanged. For pricing, i think it is not advisable to post it here, do pm me I'll tell you the pricing they quoted me fro all 3 company. Cheers, P/s: Please do not flame me, this is purely for the benefit for those who are looking for this service, as I really had a hard, hard time finding.
  25. Hi bros, Want to paint my brake calipers black. As my rims is ADVAN RG2, the space in between the spokes allows me to paint it without taking out the wheel. That's a good thing, if not it's gonna be real hard to remove those nuts! Thus, I would like to do a DIY job, but without any knowledge and experience. Hopefully from experience bro here please advise me on the following questions. 1) What kind and brand of paint and where can I get them? 2) Equipment needed to paint. 3) The procedures and ways of painting it. 4) Result of painting vs spraying. Please do share and comment on what I should look out for during this DIY. Cheers, Jon.
