Jeremy opts for a Jaguar F Type V6, Richard too goes British with an Aston Martin Volante V12, whilst James takes a punt on Italy with a Maserati. The boys report to the northern part of Mauritania, inside the perilous Foreign Office Red Zone, where they must rendezvous with their cars, which are delivered courtesy of the world’s longest iron ore train, a 1.2 mile monster that travels this country’s only railway line. From there, Jeremy, James and Richard strike out into the Sahara, heading south for Senegal and the famous finish line on the beach of Dakar. Along the way they must descend treacherous ravines by cable, James must battle with mysterious sand storms that threaten his car, they must build unusual and ingenious devices to help their cars cope with the car killing roads, and they must extract themselves from a deadly minefield. Also, given they are in the Sahara in one of the least populated countries in the world, they have to travel with their own fuel bowser, which they must protect at all costs, from being blown up. Having conquered the Sahara, our heroes’ problems are far from over. In order to reach Senegal they must make a perilous river crossing, across a river with no bridge. Now fully able to travel to far flung and exotic places the boys are back at their best, with the incredible back drop of Mauritania providing a spectacular setting for one of their most action packed adventures yet.

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2021-jeep-grand-cherokee-l-3-row-suv-first-drive-review?galleryimageid=0b6dc9dd-055f-4f17-a93b-ad9f54c61529 "Respect the Grand and earn the seven slots." That was the task given to the team developing the fifth-generation (codename: WL) Grand Cherokee lineup, which includes this three-row 2021 Grand Cherokee L and its two-row sibling arriving for 2022. The directive is Jeep-speak for "keep it comfy and classy but ensure it'll go everywhere its ZJ, WJ, and WK predecessors could." We just spent a day driving four variants of the L, cruising interstate highways, thrashing twisty roads, towing 7,200 pounds, and scaling boulder trails. It's report card time. Does the Grand Cherokee L Earn Its Seven-Slot Grille Off-Road? Yes, and frankly, Jeep off-road capability is what the midsize three-row class is currently missing. A properly equipped 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland will surely rank as the most capable mainstream midsize three-row SUV offering, with a state-of-the-art low-range full-time 4WD system, screens that monitor pitch and roll angles, and a trail camera to provide a view of what's just over the hill you're cresting, complete with guidelines to indicate where the tires are headed. On paper, ground clearance measures about the same as with the previous two-row Grand Cherokee, with the new L trailing only slightly in approach, breakover, and departure angles. With the standard steel suspension, these measures drop by 5.6, 0.8, and 2.5 degrees, but an Overland aired up on its tippy toes narrows those angles to differences of +0.3, -0.2, and -3.5 degrees. All three available transfer cases employ active front-to-rear torque distribution with a front-axle disconnect for improved fuel economy. Stepping up to the Limited 4x4 adds the Selec-Terrain system, which has five modes to tailor various functions to different conditions (auto, sport, rock, snow, mud/sand). The Overland gets standard Quadra-Trac II, which adds a 2.72:1 low range and hill-descent control and Quadra-Lift air suspension for 4.2 inches of height adjustability. The most serious bushwhackers will add the Off-Road Group to get 18-inch wheels with off-road tires, skidplates, and Quadra-Drive II, which adds an electronically actuated limited-slip rear differential (Summit models also get Quadra-Drive II, but with less off-road-optimal 20- or 21-inch wheel-and-tire packages). With ample spotter assistance, we traversed stacks of logs and an aggressive rock pile that most civilians would never attempt in a $60,000 SUV, making extensive use of the skidplates. We also crossed a frame-twist field that placed diagonally opposed wheels at a 24-inch height difference. The articulation and traction were impressive, especially given the unaggressive looking tread of the Michelin Primacy XC All-Season tires. A future Trailhawk model could do with knobbier tires, a skosh more ground clearance, and a lower (numerically higher) crawl ratio, as the Overland Off-Road pack's 44.2:1 ratio frequently required so much accelerator input in some situations that when a tire finally surmounted an obstacle it was necessary to immediately jump on the brakes. How Grand Is the Newest Cherokee? The top-shelf Summit Reserve strives for Bentley-level grandiosity with diamond stitching on the door panels and the bolsters and of its perforated Palermo leather seats, waxed walnut wood veneers on the dash and door panels, and an over-the-top 950-watt, 17-channel, 19-speaker McIntosh sound system. And sure, it falls short of the Bentley benchmark with middle-row seats that must—sigh—be manually folded and slid to access the third row and in the quality of some plastic materials low on the dash and door panels, but let's recall that this model tops out at less than $70,000. We spent most of our drive time in the base Laredo model, which opens at $38,690 with rear drive or $40,690 with AWD, having climbed directly out of an example of its three-row sibling from Dodge, the Durango GT ($40,795 to start). The much newer Jeep instantly came across as the quieter, suppler-riding, and more refined of the two. Yes, the instrument panel upper surface is a soft-touch molded material, as in the Dodge, and the cloth seats whisper "Emerald upgrade at the rental counter," but there is cut-and-sew trim on the dash and armrests, and the standard features content is reasonably grand: fully digital and reconfigurable 10.1-inch instrument cluster, adaptive cruise control with lane assist, and collision braking assist with pedestrian detection. The 8.4-inch standard infotainment screen gets a big black frame to remind you of the available 10.1-inch upgrade, and its pixel density is about half that of the larger screen's, but it still looks bright and crisp and displays loads of information. The third-row's 32.6 cubic feet of third-row space rank near the bottom of the midsize three-row class, below the Nissan Pathfinder (33.7) and above the GMC Acadia (32.6), Toyota Highlander (30.4), and Mazda CX-9 (29.9), but that measurement is made with the sliding middle-row seats at the back of their 7 inches of travel. The seat feels plenty spacious when the middle row is moved to give a couple of those inches back. The intermediate Limited, Overland, and Summit trim levels each ratchet up the swellness, upgrading the Laredo's cloth seats with first Capri, then Nappa, and finally Palermo leather, and troweling on luxury features like motors to actuate the liftgate and third row, an intermediate nine-speaker, 506-watt Alpine audio system, and more. Suffice it to say that this Jeep, like most Ram pickups, continues to rank Stellantis as the Audi of mainstream vehicle interior design. How's the Ride and Handling on-Road? All grown up. Compared to the old two-row model, the L is 15.1 inches longer and about 13 percent larger overall on the outside, and yet Jeep has managed to keep the curb weights to within a percent of each other while also increasing torsional rigidity by 13 percent and bending stiffness by 18 percent. This rigid foundation supports a new three-link virtual steering axis front suspension, as well as a retuned multilink rear setup. The whole package feels more sophisticated and delivers on Jeep's "glide ride" promise while cornering with remarkably flat poise and minimal tire squeal even on the off-road-optimized 18-inch Michelin Primacy XC footwear standard on Laredo models. Ride quality is excellent on the steel springs and 18-inch tires. The air suspension standard on Overland and Summit models adds adaptive damping this year, further improving body motion control when executing left-right maneuvers or transiting dips and rises. But the motion control on the base suspension is darned good, too, and certain tilted-slab-type bumps that hit both tires at the same time seemed to "ring" the suspension more noticeably in the Summit Reserve variant. This could be attributed to the shorter sidewalls of its 275/45R21 tires, a striking natural frequency of the pneumatic corners, or both. What About Straight-Line Performance? We expect the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with the Pentastar V-6 to perform identically to the two-row 2020 model, given that they share virtually identical power, weight, tires, and gearing. With V-8 models switching from a 3.09:1 axle ratio to the V-6's 3.45:1 setup, the new model might possibly shave a tenth or two off its predecessor's time. Naturally, this means the forthcoming two-row 2022 Grand Cherokee is likely to be quicker still, not to mention potential SRT models yet to come. The current V-6 motivates an empty Grand Cherokee with more than ample verve, and the 5.7-liter V-8 whisked a 7,200-pound boat up to speed with relative ease. Fractionally larger front and rear rotors and calipers increase the pad swept area by 8 percent in front, 14 percent in the rear. This should improve stopping distances, but the real win is brake pedal feel. The brakes engage very near the top of the travel and their bite is linear throughout, which quickly builds confidence. A note for trailering buyers: Jeep provides trailer-sway mitigation, but no built-in trailer-brake controller and no automatic adjustment of the blind-spot monitoring system to account for trailer length, so if you're towing a long or heavy trailer, make sure it's equipped with surge brakes and check those mirrors carefully when changing lanes.

Formula 1 will race in Miami this week in what will be the first of 2 F1 races in the United States this season. Formula 1 has grown tremendously in the United States and in 2020 we will see 3 races on the calendar with the addition of Las Vegas. Some fans think 3 races in the states is too much, and we should prioritise other race tracks and expand to other countries. Some don't like the race track, or the fake marina which has been set up. In this video i'll explain why Miami gets so much hate and criticism, but also why you should definitely give it a chance. Enjoy!

Although it's been two years since the Singapore Grand Prix, first held in 2008, has taken place – due to the global pandemic – the event will return in 2022 as part of this 23-race season. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F1 VTL? Set up the F1 Village as a quarantine zone lol. Visitors cannot leave the F1 Village and locals have to check themselves into the F1 Village for the entire weekend too and quarantine themselves thereafter for the next seven days. Lol. TADA. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Pharmaceuticals/Alzheimer-s-grand-slam-for-Biogen-and-Eisai-five-things-to-know?utm_campaign=RN Subscriber newsletter&utm_medium=daily newsletter&utm_source=NAR Newsletter&utm_content=article link&del_type=1&pub_date=20210608190000&seq_num=7&si=44594 Alzheimer's 'grand slam' for Biogen and Eisai: five things to know Treatment for dementia still faces financial and regulatory hurdles An estimated 6 million people in Japan are suffering dementia, or 17% of the senior population. Eisai filed for approval to use aducanumab in Japan in December. (Source photos by Ken Kobayashi and Kosaku Mimura) MITSURU OBE, Nikkei staff writerJune 8, 2021 18:15 JST TOKYO -- U.S. regulators' approval on Monday of aducanumab, an Alzheimer's treatment jointly developed by California-based Biogen and Tokyo-based Eisai, is potentially a life-changing moment for millions. This is the first time that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug designed to slow the progress of Alzheimer's in sufferers. Previous drugs targeting the disease have aimed only to alleviate symptoms. It has raised hopes that dementia, a pressing challenge in countries with aging populations, can better be dealt with. In Japan, an estimated 6 million people are suffering dementia, or 17% of the senior population. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia, accounting for nearly 70% of cases. But approval of aducanumab has also been contentious. Is the treatment going to wipe out the disease? How does it work? Here are five things to know. How does aducanumab work? Alzheimer's is a disease that causes memory loss and makes it difficult to carry out daily activities or even to speak. The exact cause is unknown, but scientists believe that a protein called beta amyloid is a major cause. As amyloid increases in the brain, it starts forming fibers and then plaques, damaging nerve cells and causing them to die, according to Eisai. Aducanumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets amyloid, allowing the body to reduce it in the brain. The human body is capable of removing amyloid, but the ability declines with age, Eisai says. The drug is found to be effective especially when it is used for early-stage patients, according to Eisai, so it is important that the disease is detected early. Will it eliminate Alzheimer's? This is the big question. The FDA gave aducanumab an accelerated approval, meaning that Biogen will still need to prove the drug's effectiveness in a post-market study. This is because the results of the earlier trials were not as compelling as the drugmakers hoped them to be -- one of the reasons why approval for the drug was in doubt. Under the scheme, patients will be allowed to use the drug even though there is still residual uncertainty regarding its efficacy. The approval can be withdrawn if it fails to show its effectiveness in a post-market study. Price could also be a hurdle for broad adoption. Biogen said on Monday that the drug's list price would be $56,000 a year for an average U.S. patient. The high price tag is likely to limit the users of the drug to those who have an insurance policy that can cover such expensive drugs in the U.S. In Japan, the drug, if approved, would be covered by the national health care insurance. Given the tight fiscal situation of the Japanese government, access to the drug could be limited to those who are found to have a high level of amyloid, for instance, a drug analyst at a Japanese brokerage house said. For that, the patient needs to receive a brain scan, but such equipment is not widely available and receiving a test is expensive, the analyst said. But the analyst expects that demand for the drug will be "very strong." What has Eisai's role been? Eisai is a Japanese drugmaker founded in 1941. The current CEO, Haruo Naito, is a grandson of the founder and is known for strong leadership and a top-down management style. He has made Eisai focus on two areas, Alzheimer's disease and cancer. Under his leadership, Eisai has emerged as a strong developer of innovative drugs. The company has developed Aricept, a treatment of Alzheimer's disease symptoms. Eisai joined Biogen's project to develop aducanumab in 2014. Development was risky and analysts say Eisai would not have pursued such a project without Naito's personal commitment. How has the market reacted? The news of the U.S. approval took the market by surprise. Shares of Eisai ended up 19% on Tuesday, the biggest gainer on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's first section. In the U.S., shares in Biogen rose more than 50% at one stage and ended the day up 38% at their highest level in six years. The steep rises reflect the degree of uncertainty over whether the drug would receive U.S. approval. "It was like hitting a grand slam in the back of the ninth inning," the Japanese analyst said. What happens next? Attention will now center on further required regulatory approval for aducanumab in other markets, and on whether other drugs that use similar science can be developed. Eisai filed in December for separate approval in Japan. "We'd like to make the drug available to Japanese patients as soon as possible," a spokesperson said. Eisai is also developing, with Biogen, a similar treatment called lecanemab or BAN2401. Lecanemab is also used for removing amyloid at an early stage of Alzheimer's. The company plans to file for approval for lecanemab in the next fiscal year starting in April 2022.

Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert killed in crash at Belgian Grand Prix Source: https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/31/motorsport/anthoine-hubert-killed-belgian-grand-prix-formula-2-spt-intl/index.html Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert has died after a crash at the Belgian Grand Prix, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has confirmed. The Frenchman's car was hit at high speed by Juan-Manuel Correa's at Spa-Francorchamps. They were treated by emergency medical crews before being taken to a medical center. Hubert, 22, died at 6:45 p.m. local time, the FIA said, while American Correa remains in a stable condition and is being treated at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Liege hospital. A crane clears the wreckage following Anthoine Hubert's crash. The third driver involved, France's Giuliano Alesi, was declared fit at the medical center. The race was canceled soon after the crash occurred on lap two. Formula 2 is a feeder series for Formula One and is seen as the final step before progressing to F1. Hubert, who won two races this season and the Formula 3 championship last year, drove for BWT Arden and was an affiliated driver for the Renault Formula One team. Teams and drivers from across the motorsport community paid tribute to Hubert, with former F1 world champion Jenson Button calling the youngster "super talented." Mercedes' F1 team, which will be competing in tomorrow's Grand Prix on the same track, said: "The entire Mercedes family sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Anthoine Hubert, and his Arden and Renault teams on this tragic day." RIP Anthoine Hubert.

Clarkson says The Grand Tour wanted to do a road trip in Middle East
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Jeremy Clarkson, one of the hosts in The Grand Tour, has revealed that the team wanted to do a road trip in Middle East be backed out over safety concerns. The outspoken host wrote this in his Sunday Times column that the team was considering a trip from Saudi Arabia across to Cairo, Egypt but decided against it. “This would be an epic journey, except it would mean crossing the Sinai peninsula and, thanks to Isis, the chances of us all arriving on the other side with heads were slim,” he revealed. As seen on British publication Express, The Grand Tour looked into Thailand’s Andaman Islands but decided against filming there due to the presence of a violent tribe on one of the islands. It also added on that a trip to Australia would not be possible because it wouldn’t be interesting enough to fans and media scrutiny in the country could make organizing such a trip difficult. There is no official news on when the The Grand Tour’s fourth season will premiere and the new season will focused exclusively on specials where the trio will be doing road trips in different parts of the world.-

So I got lucky and managed to win the grand prize for the recent Sonax workshop event held on Renault premises. The top prize was a weekend drive-away with the prize winning Grand Scenic. MCF organisers requested a thread on the weekend drive-away and I was happy to oblige. Just wondering if anyone has questions on this 7 seater model, I may be able to help answer some questions as I explore the ride this weekend. Current ride is a smallish Hyundai i30 wagon, so this is a different category for me, although I did come from a Mazda 5 not too long ago. A more complete review will be attempted, but first up some specs. Renault Grand Scenic Type - MPV 7 seater (midsize MPV) Engine - Diesel 1.5 litre Turbo dCI (Auto) ; Euro 6 BHP - 110; Torque - 260 NM Extras - full size glass roof (standard on Grand Scenic) Seats - full leather, one-touch foldable system via rear and front display panel Wheels - 195/55/20 with 20 inch rims Weight - 1.5 tons Length - 4.6 m; Height - 1.6 m 0 -100 km/h : 13.2 seconds Luggage space - 233/596 (3rd row folded)

Jeep three-row Chinese SUV will be called Grand Commander https://www.autoblog.com/2018/01/16/jeep-large-suv-china-grand-commander/ China is still very much a Jeep country, and the boxy XJ generation Cherokee lived and prospered there far longer than it did in the United States — until 2014. There have also been China-built Grand Cherokees, but the biggest Chinese Jeep has been previewed in the form of the Yuntu concept seen at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Now, leaked shots of the Yuntu's production version have emerged a couple weeks after the SUV was spotted testing still in camouflage, and it appears to wear the nameplate GrandCommander. While a name like Grand Wagoneer would have been a stronger memento of Jeeps gone by, at least it's not called Grand Compassor Grand Nitro. The official reveal of the Grand Commander is expected to be held at the Beijing Auto Show in April, where more information will be available. Car News China says the big, nearly 16-foot-long SUV is a seven-seater, and the engine is the same 2-liter turbo unit also seen in the freshly updated Wrangler. There will be two power levels, 234 hp and 265 hp. The Grand Commander will most likely remain China-only, where it will be priced at $38,000. That sees it competing withVolkswagen's large Teramont SUV, which starts at nearly $45,000.

Red Bull cars to feature iconic 007 logos at British Grand Prix
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Aston Martin will be celebrating the James Bond Heritage by dressing up two Red Bull cars with the 007 logos on their cars. These logos will appear at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Other than the 007 logo, the Formula 1 cars will also get a decal of the Bond number plates on the back of their rear wings. Max Verstappen will be featuring the plate from the Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger (1964), while Pierre Gasly’s car will feature the Aston Martin V8 number plate from The Living Daylights (1987). To complete the look, the team’s pit garage will also feature wall graphics inspired by Q’s MI6 laboratory. Aston Martin cars have always been connected to the James Bond franchise since its beginnings. Through the years, Bond got to drive many models, such as the V8 Vantage Volante, the DB10, the DBS and the iconic DB5. -

Amazon has confirmed that The Grand Tour will return to the screens with a fourth season. There will be big changes though... Hosted by the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, a message was posted on its website saying saying “We’re excited to announce that we have renewed The Grand Tour for season 4, and [are] proud that Prime Video will continue to be the home of Jeremy, Richard and James for years to come.” Interestingly, the tweet also said that they will be getting rid of the tent to take on big adventure road trips that viewers like to see more. According to The Sun, the fourth season of the show will reportedly consist of at least four 'big budget specials' per year for the next two years rather than the usual hour-long episodes. Clarkson added on,“There are only so many times you can watch a BMW go round the track — what more can you say? It’s got four wheels and a seat. I’m 58 and I’m too fat to be climbing on to the stage.”

Can't create a new topic, so will write a question here. I have Citroen Grand C4 Picasso with BluHDI 200. Recently I've got a message that Ureal level is low and I need to refill it, otherwise I can't start engine in 1100km. I went to official service (Sing Huat Premium), they topped up Adblue tank, but the message still remain. They don't know what to do with it and advised me to go to official Citroen dealer. Reading Internet I found out that this can be a real problem and the best solution is probably to remove Adblue system at all. Can someone advise a technical service which have experience with AdBlue system?

Fans of The Grand Tour will be happy to know that the program has spin off a new video game when the third season of the show starts. To be heavily influenced by the third season of The Grand Tour, the game will be released weekly in an "episode" manner like how the show is. Each episode will echo the one shown on Amazon Prime and feature the same locations and cars as the streaming program. According to its press release, mirroring setup extends even further as Amazon says there will be “seamless transitions from clips of the show to gameplay." You can also expect the show's humor to be present as Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have recorded “hours of original voice acting” for the game. Available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Amazon didn't say what cars will be present in the game, but judging from the trailer, you can expect cars like the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder to be there. A multiplayer mode is also available but judging from screenshots of it, it looks slightly like a copy of Mario Kart where you have things to knock into to gain more speed during the race. This is what Jeremy Clarkson has to say, “It’s a video game featuring me, the crashy one and the slow one.” He added, “If you’ve always wanted to come on the road with us, this is as close as you’ll ever get. Unless you kidnap James and steal his face.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irLaPqkOE54

Amazon has released a trailer for the third season of its long-awaited The Grand Tour. We can't wait to see what the trio have for us. Since the start of 2018, the ex-Top Gear hosts, Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson, have been filming for the new season. Judging from the trailer, we can expect them to go through some really epic road trips and challenges all over the globe. Catch them on Amazon Prime next year starting from the 18th of January. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=109&v=-7USlC956z8
