Akai80 Neutral Newbie August 18, 2005 Share August 18, 2005 Hi Gtr206, thxs for your info, my car seems to handle the engine braking better this past 2 days. Hope it will be better today onwards. Another thing i want to know is that i found out that my steering wheel alignment is not in the centre. What i mean is that when driving in a straight line, the steering wheel needs to be turn slightly to the left. Can i just drop by the Proton workshop for them to test it? Is it covered under warranty? ↡ Advertisement
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 18, 2005 Share August 18, 2005 Hi akai80, you can highlight your steering wheel issue during your next servicing with Proton Singapore. Rest assured that you'll not be charge for it. But if you can't wait till your next service appointment, call us for an appointment date as our bookings are pretty full till next week. Happy motoring!
Caaa Clutched August 19, 2005 Share August 19, 2005 Last time when I drove a Citroen Xantia, samething also, engine brakes due to downshift of gear when I let go the gas......take a while to get use to it but I think this could be the same idea in Gen 2 maybe? It different from the usual Jap but it indeed quite useful at times....
Akai80 Neutral Newbie August 19, 2005 Share August 19, 2005 Yup i admit the engine braking design is a safety issue. I kinda of getting used to it lately but i'm worried that will it be too stressful on the engine itself as the dragging of gears occurs.
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Don't worry, the Auto Gen-2 is design to drive in this manner...
Akai80 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Sorry to trouble you again... I find that the fuel guage is not tat accurate so i'm wondering if the Trip Computer (digital) is more accurate? Im more concerned about the fuel left in the car. Another thing is about the safety belt. Is the icon in the LCD Display fitted in Singapore Proton cars? Coz mine does not light up even if i dont fasten my safety belt. Cheers
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Hi akai80, the needle fuel guage in your Gen-2 is more accurate then the digital one. The digital reading is only an estimate reading but It'll be more accurate during long distance driving. I have a few question to ask you about the fuel gauge...does your fuel gauge needle goes all the way to the 'F' mark when you top up full to the brim? Does the fuel gauge needle fluctuates during driving and how many KM can you travel with a full tank. (get your reading from the mileage meter not average fuel consumption meter) The safety belt warning light will only light up if and when your seat belt pre-tensioners have a problem. Otherwise, it will not light up.
Akai80 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Aiyo i thought the digital is more accurate. Yup my needle gauge did went to the 'F' mark. But this needle only moves in 'fixed steps' which means it can move to 1 or 2 steps down when im driving. My car is only 1 week++ old and i topped up twice (full tank) First i travelled 350km and 380km for the 2nd tank. I got these readings from the distance travelled and i reset the counter after topping up. But each time the fuel light lit up and i went to top up and found that i can only topped up 38L of petrol which means it still have about 12L left. Eh can i know what you mean by the pre-tensioners of the seat belts?
Cyclonesgoalie Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 if the needle is more accurate, then why does the needle drop like skydivers just after the 1/4 , or 1/4 tank balance? anyone has the same issue? anyway way nice meeting you guys at the Dam EARLY sunday morning
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Ok, then you'll need to highlight this to your service advisor when you come for your 1st service. Let the service dept. check on this matter for you. 350-380 km for a full tank is quite normal for now as your engine is still not run-in yet. And don't forget that you have a spare tank that is a least 10-15 ltrs. Seat belt pre-tensioners are part of a safety device that will operate a few milli- seconds just before your air-bag deploys. It's where your buckles of your seat belt clicks to the housing. (near your left hip for the driver side) It will move downwards if and when you have a frontal collision thats hard enough to deploy your air-bag system. Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 The needle gauge will move up and down depending on when you accelerate or brake. The float at the tank will move as the fuel move within the tank itself. So that's ok. But if it moves all the way to 'E' then up again to where it was before, then you'll have to make an appointment to get Proton Singapore to have a look at it. Akai80 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Does the spare tank of 10-15L included in the 50L tank (which is stated in the Gen2 booklet). So does the fuel icon lits up when there is still about 10L of petrol inside (not including the spare tank)? Does the fuel icon blinks when it is tapping into the spare tank? Thxs for being my advisor...Cheers!!
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 No worries...anyway, the fuel warning light will come on when the needle is about just slightly below the 'E' mark. And then it'll eat into the spare tank after that. It's all estimated as we ourselves have not tried it. So my advise is when the light comes on or before, go and fill up the tank. As the only lubricant for your fuel injectors are your fuel. (so try not to drive till your out of petrol as this may damage the fuel injectors)
Sei_fei_loh 1st Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 HI GTR206, has anyone complained its difficult to pump the tank to full? petrol keeps gushing out as the petrol flows in too slow? hmmm.. heard there is 50pcs of Gen 2 R3 is it coming to sg?! when is the campro technology coming in?
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 Hi sei_fei_loh, you might be experiencing a blocked breather pipe for the air to come out of the petrol tank when you are filling up the tank. Do make an appointment with Proton Singapore to rectify this. As for the Gen-2 R3...still no news.
Sei_fei_loh 1st Gear August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 oohh okay.. so u guys gonna have it replaced? btw, u sound like a technical guy! u are in the technical side or sales dept? no news for R3?? drooling..... when i bought my gen 2. so ex. nw 5k cheaper than mine can get the limited edition. haiz
Gtr206 Neutral Newbie August 22, 2005 Share August 22, 2005 No replacement part required...just need to check the positioning of the breather hose to the tank. (it might be blocked or not connected properly) I'm working with the technical dept. Well, that's life...that's why when I buy something, I try not to go elsewhere to check for the price of the same product that I've just bought or start to compare prices for that matter because there's bound to be somewhere or sometime that what you have bought will be cheaper somewhere else...especially when you buy something that depreciates like crazy, agree? Buy means buy already lor...no use crying over spilled milk lor...(j/k) It's the same for me, I bought my car at a certain price but within a month, the price dropped by 3K...sick right!
