Airwave05 Neutral Newbie November 5, 2006 Share November 5, 2006 Hi Loaded & BlueDevil Did SP on mine last week i.e. 4 Doors (2 ply), front wheel arch, front and rear floorplan and cover all the way just before the spare tyre. To be honest, the tyre and road noise are still VERY prominent. At most, it helps to cut down some 10~20% and not 70~80% claimed by most installer. I did not go for SILENT or ACCUMAT, instead ALPHA SXXXX and CXX brand i.e. half the price for a complete SP. BTW, I did SOUND CLAD on my drive a year back... perhaps need to go for a re-coat as well. Not really into ICE, but just annoyed by loud road noise coming from front and under. Yes! After SP, ICE vibration on the doors have drastically been reduced (>70%). The dooors also feel and sound "SOLID & TOUGH". I reckon the main culprit is the Tyres (clocked >30K on my drive oreli). With good grip comes loud road noise. Will explore for a in-between performance cum quiet tyre the next round. Well, did all I can to insulated noise and vibration. Guess thats the best for a 1.5 Jap car. Cheers! Karu 6th Gear November 6, 2006 Share November 6, 2006 Now that you mentioned tyres. Would like to check out with you guys what tyres you're using? I'm getting a lot of road noise with my Falken Azenis. Grip is good but noise is getting annoying @ 14K km. What's an 'in-between' tyre that will give a good balance of noise & grip? I know that Yoko ASPEC DB is quiet but the wet performance is .
Airwave05 Neutral Newbie November 6, 2006 Share November 6, 2006 Honestly speaking....Dunno Mine tyre is the same as yours i.e. Azenis STXXX. I luv the wet grip and will tolerate the noise for another 10K km more b4 considering to change. Need you bro to recommend a in-between tyre (if that exist). Yokohama DB is not in my list at this moment i.e. quiet for the initial period, progressively noisy + wet grip ??? Cheers!
Undercurrent Neutral Newbie November 8, 2006 Share November 8, 2006 Hi everyone, i m new to this forum. learning a lot from this forum. i just placed an order for a storm silver airwave a 2 weeks ago, i think. suppose to go for 2 bid, the first one being today...sad to say my PI didn't manage to win a bid for me. hope they will be able to win one in two weeks later. hope to get the car by the end of the month. hopefully . anyway, sinborn66, not sure if this helps but i upgraded my stock rims for a set of 15" rims from, according to my SE is a local supplier who gets his stock from eithe M'sia or taiwan. he's charging me $420 for the upgrade...no idea if its ex or not...i don't really now much abt cars...so not too sure if it ex or not perhaps the other more experienced airwavers could give their inputs. Jamstart 1st Gear November 9, 2006 Share November 9, 2006 Bro undercurrent, welcome to the club. Since you have already upgraded and paid for the 15" rim, it is better not to ask liao. You will be even heartbroken the more you know or listen. Just enjoy your ride and happy what you do. Wish you luck for the next COE and see you on the road. Sinborn66 Neutral Newbie November 10, 2006 Share November 10, 2006 (edited) Hi JAMSTART, is good if someone can share the price range. Me too, have the intention to upgrade my rims. Just wonder whether is it advisable/economical to replace right after I collect my new airwave in 2 weeks time. Airvavers, any good recommendation, as where can I find cheap and good, reliable rim supplier? Edited November 10, 2006 by Sinborn66
Jamstart 1st Gear November 10, 2006 Share November 10, 2006 I am not sure about the range but I got it free from my PI. 15"rim. In fact, when you are placing order, you should ask for this, it is easy for them.
Sinborn66 Neutral Newbie November 10, 2006 Share November 10, 2006 I did, but they refuse to upgrade for me FOC. Told me 14" rim, standard for airwave package.

Rocky88 Neutral Newbie November 10, 2006 Share November 10, 2006 hi Jamstart, Does ur ride have fog lamps? Undercurrent Neutral Newbie November 10, 2006 Share November 10, 2006 (edited) jamstart, thanks for the welcome ...i know wat u mean abt not asking but just wanted to know if i m getting ripped off or a fair deal... i've a question...could anyone enlighten me...my package is a 2 bid COE delivery. if, let's say the PI couldn't get a COE for me at the second bid...is there anything i can do besides cancelling the order and getting a refund? just not sure if there's any protection for car buyers out there. my concern is that the this recent COE shot up pretty unexpectedly and if it continues to climb due to the motorshow as well as the approaching year-end holidays then...i might run into that risk of not getting the COE on the second bid. any advice from anyone? similar experience, anyone? Jamstart 1st Gear November 11, 2006 Share November 11, 2006 May I ask you a question? Is your package deal 2 bids is going by confirmed COE? Or just normal 2 bids? If confirm one, then die die they must get for you for the next bidding. Good luck.
Jamstart 1st Gear November 11, 2006 Share November 11, 2006 Sorry, my ride dun come with fog lamp, I cant advise you on this.

Redfoxx Neutral Newbie November 12, 2006 Share November 12, 2006 Can I chk wif u all... Booked an airwave on 27oct2006 wif a 6bid package. i capped my coe $12000. My question is:- after the coe is secured(1st bid), do i really need to wait till the 6bids are over before i can get my car? That was what my SE told me. Is there such a rule out there? Or am i being ? Help greatly appreciated
Jamstart 1st Gear November 12, 2006 Share November 12, 2006 It is not necessary unless he didnt got the COE at all. Or he is trying get the lowest COE (open cat) for you, playing wait and see situation. As long as your car is not registered till the day you collect, there is no worry at all. ↡ Advertisement
