Lightspeed Clutched August 4, 2005 Author Share August 4, 2005 Too bad the road tax for pvt vehicles running on diesel is sky high
C708 Neutral Newbie August 5, 2005 Share August 5, 2005 E, Its supposed to be 6 times the normal road tax for private registered cars. Even if they lower or allow Turbo Diesel cars, the diesel sold cant be fed onto these cars. The Euro 4 cars cant take our low grade diesel. The Superb taxi is prob on Euro 2 or 3. THe diesel grade sold up north is already higher than what we have here. They introduced the new Beemer E60 Diesel sometime ago up there........... Toity Neutral Newbie September 8, 2005 Share September 8, 2005 Skoda is really a silent killer. That morning on BKE, I saw a Skoda Superb 1.8T with a Saab 95 behind it...They were speeding, but can see that the Saab cannot catch up...quite a few car lengths behind up till the Woodlands New Town exit...The skoda still in front...Read from the Specs that the Skoda seems not bad in terms of low end torque..quite surprised that Volkswagen made such good car... Lightspeed Clutched September 8, 2005 Author Share September 8, 2005 It might be that the Saab driver was just driving at his own pace
Fxfx 1st Gear September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 I have to agree with Lightspeed. At high speed, tailgating is suicidal and therefore its much wiser to keep a safe distance like in this case. The Skoda Superb 1.8T has indeed got a good low end torque of 210NM, but even the weakest 9-5 has 280NM at low end as well. And since both cars weigh about the same, its clear that the 9-5 was not trying to catch up at all, not to mention the high petrol prices and hidden speed cams. Tracxterem Neutral Newbie September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 (edited) Well the Skoda Superb 1.8T may be mob but in general Lightspeed and FxFx is right there's way Saab can be outrun by Skoda unless.... Putter Neutral Newbie September 9, 2005 Share September 9, 2005 (edited) You are right if comparing the stalk items. But rechipping or flashing with a DV changed can make the comparison entirely different. Edited September 9, 2005 by Superb
