I bought Silicone-X windscreen cleaner from Autobacs. However as usual, products at Autobacs are mostly from Japan and the product instructions are in japanese.

So I need someone who know how to read japanese to translate the instruction for me. Can someone help?

They work the same way as RainX but here is where I come in. Like body detailing, surface prep work is very important. Best is to clean the windshield thoroughly with dishwashing detergent. Then polish it down with CeO to ensure a polished glass surface. Wash again with dishwashing detergent. Dry. Apply with upward strokes (wind direction). Allow to haze or dry. Activate by washing with water but usually I use ethanol/water mix.

Genie can u confirm? It isn't a rain-x similar product. I am using it as a cleaner to clean my windscreen. It contains rubbing agent that cleans your windscreen thoroughly and after that you will find your windscreen doesn't bead up water. I have used Sheeto's CeO to clean before and this above product has a similar cleaning effect. After polishing with the silicone X product you will find your wiper judder free and water bead free... its a thumbs up product IMHO and I am going to buy another bottle when I finish my current one.

Anyway my sis translate for me before whats written oin the box and bottle. They are actually cleaning procedure and how the product works.Nothing much except that it contains micron less 1mm particle that rubs off silicon deposits or oily deposits on your windscreen.

When applying any glass treatment you have to ensure that the surface wets and not bead first. I doubt the Silicone-X has a cleaner. The reason why you must ensure it wets first is to make sure the surface is hydrophillic first. That is because the silanizing agent needs the hydrophillic chemical groups in glass to form the hydrophobic surface.

It is strange that they include a cleaning agent if there is one in it the first place.

My way is to use the blue sponge provided and apply the SiliconX on it and start rubbing on your windscreen in a circular motion all over your windscreen. Halfway thru the thing may dry up and u will find difficulties in rubbing. I sprinkle a little bit of water and continue to rub. When thorougly done, use a pail of water slowly flush from the top and use the sponge again to help clean of the cleaner. Continue until all coating are off.

When done, slowly pour water on your windscreen. If properly clean you will see the water on the windscreen flow freely and at the same time it leaves behind a coating of water layer (smooth mirror layer of water). There may be some small spots with no such effect which indicate it hasn't been properly cleaned, you may wish to clean with silicone X again. I hope u get what I mean. I dun't get wiper judder with this prodeuct as I find it very similar to the Ceo powder...and careful lift your wiper up up when u clean with these products.

Hi Genie:

I dunt know if this should be call a cleaner or remover. But from what I know the rain x works by applying and then buffing it until it clears up something like that(never use before). But for this product, we got to continously cricularly polish it. Just like CeO it may dry up on the windscreen after sometime and got to sprinkle a little bit of water to contine polishing. After that wash everything off, and pour water to test. It leaves a mirror effect layer of water over the treated surface and the wiper would glide over it. Maybe you wanna do a test on this product? BTW I boycott silicon blades as they works like sxxt! Even with CeO treated, they judder like sxxt!

Thanks for the instruction. [thumbsup]

When we begin polishing, should we polish on a wet or dry windscreen?

How often do you clean your windscreen with silicone-x?

Hi,

I think silicon blades applies a layer of silicon (or something) on the screen... That's what I noticed... [sweatdrop]

Anyway, that's some good **** you got there! How much did it cost you, and how big is the bottle? [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

just to share (again), autoglym's glass polish also work quite well in reducing the 'jumpiness' of the wipers. comes in a white bottle of blue liquid. doesn't smell too bad [thumbsup]

have tried teflon and silicone wipers, Soft99's teflon coating, downsizing wipers and ma-ma lemon dishwashing liquid... think the glass polish has proven to be the most effective.

my wipers rarely skips/jumps nowadays even in slight drizzle [thumbsup]

Anyone with uncurable wiper judder problem should try a last resort which was recommened to me by someone... buy the cheap NWB(did I spell wrongly) wipers (the one with light blue box package)sold at most petrol kiosk.

Believe me it solve my judder problem better than those 50 bucks Dura-edge silicone wiper which I bought too last time. Any other so methods includng Autoglm glas polish, detergent lah etc etc made my juddering worst.

Presently, I only use the silicon-X glass cleaner as above, CeO powder by Sheeto and plus NWB wipers and I have no more judder problem totally anymore. Wonder if it works for you all.

* Not forgetting, never let petrol kiosk attendant wash your windscreen!

LimWs, I assume you got judder problem. Try a pair of the cheapy NWB wiper and plus cleaning your windscreen with silicon-X, see if it works for you.

Your windscreen problem is exactly the same as mine based on what you've described. Whatever detergent I used on my windscreen only makes the juddering worst. I find that when my windscreen becomes cleaner, the juddering get worst. Same goes for the wipers. If I clean my wipers, the juddering come back.

I can't use NWB wipers cause the longest it has is 21". I need 22" wiper. NWB has wipers for conti cars (those in yellow box), but I don't think it's available in S'pore. So now I'm using Bosch wipers. It reduce the juddering quite a bit but not completely.

I've already bought silicon-X but have not use it yet. Will update after I've used it.

Wow, that's more expensive than Bosch 22" selling for $15 at Autobacs.

Anyway for the benefit of all forum members, I've tried silicone-x last night. This product is amazing [thumbsup] . After using it, I can see a layer of water stick on my windscreen when I pour water on the windscreen. First time I see this effect on my car. Using the wiper produce no juddering at all. Now looking forward for rain to come.

Remember, clean ur windscreen regularly cos it gets contaminated again easily while on the road. Also u can clean your Bosch wiper rubber blades now and you will see that it will swipe even smoother on your silicon-Xed screen. Try it.

If you're using wash and wax car shampoo, stop cos it waxed up your windscreen causing judder to occur.
