Secondhand Neutral Newbie July 22, 2005 Author Share July 22, 2005 Duh... I've read tat like.... MANY times thank you... Anywayz, these products are featured in HOT Stuff Magazine. Tat means they HAVE to be worth wat they say rite? Anyone actually used them?
Osiris 1st Gear July 22, 2005 Share July 22, 2005 (edited) Do you know Hotstuff is an advertising magazine? Meaning their whole objective (how they derived their income) is to sell advertisement thru their magazine? Thus they have no objectivity when it comes to product review They can't say product xyz is useless because then the advertiser would not want to publish in their magazine. Just because it is published in a magazine doesn't mean it is good. Edited July 22, 2005 by Osiris
Secondhand Neutral Newbie July 22, 2005 Author Share July 22, 2005 But HOT stuff mag is SG magazine leh... Anywayz, just because it's an advert doesn't mean HOT stuff shouldn't be unaccountable for their actions... Remember slim 10? also thru advertising and see wat happen... So I guess this mag isn't a reputable one?
Wreckwrx 1st Gear July 22, 2005 Share July 22, 2005 Hi, I think our dear Osiris is trying to ask us to be more discerning and not to take what is printed on the mag as gospel truth.....which as a matter of fact, is exactly what you are doing by posting this thread asking for advice. I'm sure you are not exactly certain that these stuff will work and hence you are doing your research (I assume?) and also seeking comments and advices from our friends in MCF. Kudos to you for not sinking your hardearned money blindly!! However a point to note is that by asking for advice, you must also be open and not hoping that people telling you only what you want to hear. If you already have drawn some conclusions for yourself, then I see it's pointless to post a thread asking for other people's point of view. Have a nice day!! Osiris 1st Gear July 22, 2005 Share July 22, 2005 (edited) SG mag big deal. Bro, is not whether a magazine is a reputable one. You have to see what is the objective of publishing the magazine. Hotstuff is appealing to modders who wants to know what are the various product out there. That is fine & dandy. HS served this purpose better than Torque, Wheels etc. But are those advertise products any good? HS have no resource to verify what advertisers said about the product. Is HS going to spend big money to test their claims before allowing them to advertise? No way. They are not in the business of doing so & have no money to, even if they do, do you think they will absorb the cost or pass it to the advertiser? If they pass it on, the cost of advertising in this magazine would be huge. If they need certification before advertiser can advertise, do you think many will advertise? Their featured review might be very subjective. No hard facts or at best known mods that works (bigger throttle body). Their accountability will be limited when they sign a contract with the advertiser that if anybody sue them, the advertiser takes the blame. Secondhand Neutral Newbie July 22, 2005 Author Share July 22, 2005 Yah... Anywayz, like wat was said, if every page of Hot Stuff mag is just plain advert, how do we know wat works and wat dont? So the question goes back to question 1... Anyone got use those products b4 or are using them now? Are they worth every penny spent? If anyone bought HotStuff Issue 31, the 2nd page behind cover shows RMK products... I happen to have bought it... And yes.. From previous issue. If anyone ask me does tat product work... I'd have to tell them... I donno. I felt it DID work when 1st installed. Now, I really donno...

Just do a search for E68,Voltage Stabilizers (VS), K&N Air Filter etc.... You should find loads of threads on them and you can draw your own conclusion from there. Cheers! Benhew05 Neutral Newbie July 22, 2005 Share July 22, 2005 Sorry Genie, couldn't agree with you on this one.... It does work all the time in fact You spend all your hard-earned $$$ on these useless mods until your wallet become light or empty... then you will have no money for food... you end up skipping lunch and occasional tea-breaks... you will lose weight... you car FC will perform better becoz the driver have lost weight! Wreckwrx 1st Gear July 22, 2005 Share July 22, 2005 Not to say the driver also becomes weak from hunger so got lesser strength on the right foot and hence FC also improves coz cannot rev as hard!!! ↡ Advertisement
