I think we have to assess the HRV / Vezel for what it is.

Superb interior space

Superb FC

MIJ

Good design

Actually the NVH, and finish is already better than past Civics, so if we want better NVH, then we may need to spend Lexus money, or pile on the kilos to add bitumen, and then the acceleration is also affected.

So the power isn't that of a hot rod, but in most cases in SG, it should be fine. My concern is of course with merging with traffic, and higher speeds on the NS highway.

For more power, better interior, there are brands like VW, BMW, Merc etc, but are these brands actually more reliable?

The MIJ tag is something worth paying for IMO. It definitely means something, because I have been reading this thread and other foreign ones, and essentially very few real faults have been reported. Definitely less than even Merc, BMW etc.

Agree with you on this count, in addition, if u prefer a nicer interior, u can certainly consider the hybrid rs, the interior rocks too... [;)]

For merging with traffic, you need max torque at low RPM.  It can only be achieved via turbo engine.

For NSH, unless you are talking about > 150km/h, it is possible with most jap.

Had seen my ride boot area dismantled to bare min for some installations. From what i see, hybrid batt does not extend to the rear seats.

That's good new :)

Neutral Newbie

What is the recommended servicing schedule ? Should use minerial oil for first run-in servicing ? What viscosity of engine oil to use thereafter ?

As for automated features, sure they sound like a good idea, but personally the manual seat adjustment is fine for me - less things to spoil.

No turning headlights, again less mechanical bits to spoil

Sunroof - nah, too hot in Singapore

The spare wheel may be useful, and the lane change / collision prevent features are good to have and front / rear cameras are good.

The rear legroom is really tiny..

Seems to be like Cx-3. Everything good but rear leg room is terror.

More electronics more problem. The conti very good...but loads of electronics. Come here car already very ex. With all these parts lagi ex.

MIJ usually more straightforward.

Yup. Can have one good but not two. However, just comparing interior quality wise and also cabin insulation, qashqai seems to be better. Price is not tpo far off. But I got vezel in the end purely because of reliability and practicality. Edited by Andyngps

Sound insulation of Honda cars are known to be not so good compared to other manufacturer like Toyota or Nissan.

Sat and test drove both Civic and HRV/Vezel. Comparing with Civic, Civic is the upper league. NVH and interior feel are much better than HRV/Vezel.

I think honda owners like the sound of the vtec opening so a little less insulation isn't that bad :)

Other cars are meant to be driven in a more stately fashion.

A corolla owner is less likely to zoom around at 4000 rpm ..

I felt different between the civic and HRV. Civic built to me not as good. Personal preference I guess.

Toyota...better in also don't think so but current get of engine is quiter.

Nissan seems 1 notch up. Most areas feels good except some...but the material used will need to see if it can tahan our local UV.

Still is to me. Cos Jap cars usually 1 way communication with car computer. Conti wire it to relay msg back to computer.

Just like if we wanna tap a power...for conti is more difficult sometimes trigger all kinds of lights and msg if u don't know what you doing. Changing 1 LED bulb will also have canbus error. Less so for Japs.

Conti also have many modules...make it almost impossible unless oem mods. But nowdays it has improved. Sensor everywhere means more problem.

That's my personal experience lah.

Agrees.

How about higher end Jap, Lexus or Infinity?

Despite the electronic, i still believe German cars have better safety feature than Jap.  Don't tell me the accident repair crap.  I rather walk out of the car unharmed.

Best car:

Metalwork of a conti

Safety features of a Volvo / BMW / Merc

Reliability of a Jap car

Made in Japan, by workers who will do a good job all the time

Price of a Cherry QQ  [laugh]

Does it exist? Sure!

Just walk across the Causeway and buy anything you like...  [:p]

Surveys have been done, cars assembled on Wed fair best :

Monday the worker is still hangover from his weekend

Friday the worker is too distracted by the coming weekend

Most affected workers? Americans and continental Europe, apart from the Germans, who use a lot of robots to counteract the cost of labor.
