therock Supersonic July 14, 2016 Share July 14, 2016 CTBA could have saved the woman who drove the Mercedes into the river at Liang Court. Praise to Honda Sensing. Maybe not... since it works on an anti-collision principle. Which means that it won't stop someone who accidentally steps on the accelerator, and speeds up. By the time she hit the barrier next to the river, she was faster than 30 kph, and she was already going to flip over. Maybe her shoe was stuck and she kept speeding up. Edmundktan Neutral Newbie July 14, 2016 Share July 14, 2016 FYI guys, there is a company in Japan that export all these recon cars ..not just the Honda Vezel but other Japanese cars /vans as well. The others cars/vans imported into SG are Shuttle, Fit, Toyota Harrier, Sienta, Estima, Alphard,Hellfire, Hiace...etc. After arrival in SG, the vehicles were sent to Vicom for inspection... some of you may probably have seen the Vicom sticker on your car. Edmundktan Neutral Newbie July 14, 2016 Share July 14, 2016 Sorry not Hellfire ...Vellfire. I used to work for the shipper's local contractor to unload these vehicles from the RORO vessels. I handle the documentations for them that how I came to know about it. The dealers need not do anything to the cars except fit the radio set as Japan use different freq/band. Westguy 2nd Gear July 14, 2016 Share July 14, 2016 May i know what are the cons of the start stop engine function and why is it so unpopular here? Is it because of additonal wear and tear of the engine?

Recon means it's being reconditioned. The Harriers, Vezel, shuttle, Jade, Civic Type R are all coming into singapore AS IS. Engine, tranny, AC systems all are not being stripped out in japan to be overhauled before assembling back and being shipped out to singapore are they? Just because they have been registered and deregistered before in Japan then the term "recon" is being loosely used to label the cars?? The only "used" condition I can think of them is mostly being driven for the purpose of transporting the vehicle up and down storage facilities and in between transportation. That accounts for majority of the PI cars. If just because they have been driven before for transporting it up and down within storage facilities and in and out of showrooms and it's considered as a recon vehicle, then there are no brand new vehicles in singapore regardless of whether or not you purchase from the AD or PI. I used to purchased recond bikes in the 80's. They are very different. These are used vehicles. It is Japanese govt regulation that all brand new cars for local domestic use that need to be exported must be registered first and then de-register before they can be export. You cannot label this brand new JDM as recond but Japanese de-registered cars. Edited July 14, 2016 by trajet2b

Thanks for the info, appreciate the sharing. But curious is there any other deeper insight? Because what you mention is probably what most bros here already know.... this is obviously how the PIs here get their car supply from and the Vicom homologation process is already discussed/bashed to death in other threads. Btw my sort of so call direct importer PI Has 10 vezel waiting for collection during that two weeks. I collected on 7 april. Mine still has all those stuff as well but not the paper floor mats and plastic seat cover as my PI removed the paper mats to put proper mats and well the seat was originally cloth seat and installer has to rewrap with leather so the plastic was gone as well. My radio leather seats etc all of them the installer came down to PI area to install. Well said. Guess some might imagine a new car to be like a new phone.... off the production line, into a box, seal and ship out As much as we all would like it to be directly off production line to be ours, at least 5-6 people would have driven our car before us May i know what are the cons of the start stop engine function and why is it so unpopular here? Is it because of additonal wear and tear of the engine? Some other manufacturers have some special trickery where they remember the positions of the cylinders etc etc and provide spark to the ones that are just about to enter the power stroke or something.. So no starter motor is used when restarting engine But for Honda Vezel's case, it uses the starter motor to restart the engine. Honda has designed the starter motor to be stronger with consideration of the start-stop system. When engine if off whether or not the oil pump and radiator etc are still running im not sure.. ↡ Advertisement
