[Error] Mazda & Vezel Thread

Need some help.

I have a 7.5 year old Mazda Premacy.Lately the OBD code ''P0421'' came out.

MM says it will cost 6k to fix [new 'Warm-up Cat conv. need replcement].

Anybody have any alternative suggestions.

My frank opinion, have a second mechanic check on it. My friend Mazda 5 was service by them all this year, he have bill that the service include ATF being change, at the mileage of about 130k and the gearbox have problem, cannot change gear, when have it check by another mechanic and saw that the ATF is as dark as coffee black and having a burn smell. The original ATF is red color, in my opinion they charge but did not replace the oil, No wonder MM have to lost the agency.

They quote 20 K for gearbox and after much questioning they say 10 k

City auto was authorised dealer till mazda went down under, bluwell isnt. If u want to inspect i reckon u head over to city auto instead of dealer. Dealer wont let u see them inspect and u dun even know whats going on behind there. At least outside workshops can see. For mz 6 most impt is check Driving chain, engine mounting. Enjoy ur drive

N izzit adviseable to use R18 on a mazda 3? Am contemplating to swap the 17in -18in. But not sure if comfort n fuel consumption will be compromise.

Comfort definitely be compromised cos with a 18" tyre, the tyre profile or thickness will be lower than the you would probably be getting a lower profile than the one you currently on.

Fuel consumption will also increase with the increase in diameter of the tyre. And not to mention the cost of each tyre too.

Fyi, you should be using a 205/45r17 instead cos this give a similar reading to the odometer as the stock. And I don't recall mazda gave stock toyo tyres. I got BS ER30 last time. Currently on my 2nd set of Toyo t1r.

Thx for the info. Will check out 205/45/17 too. The tyre shop across my place quate me $228 per piece for goodyear..Though can't remember the model he offered. Mine was toyo...I got my mazda 3 2.0 in 09.
