XLR8 1st Gear July 5, 2005 Share July 5, 2005 Its' your rims lar bro! Will really affect ah? Heheheh
Vit4wd 1st Gear July 5, 2005 Share July 5, 2005 My Superb can also at ~1.9k-2k at 100km/h lei... Actually it depends on no. of auto gear in come with the car. Most auto car only can support to 4th gear (like Cefiro, Camry). For those who can support 5th gear, the rpm will be ~2k at 100km/h. I heard Japan had already launched their 7th gear Odyssey!!! Of course can lah. That's why its called SUPERB. Meaning SUPER!
Lightspeed Clutched July 5, 2005 Share July 5, 2005 Yes...really affects alot!
Skodee Neutral Newbie July 5, 2005 Share July 5, 2005 Yup just confirmed mine at 3100 rpm when travelling 100km/hr. Guess that's the 17" rims ratings....
Cola80 Neutral Newbie July 5, 2005 Share July 5, 2005 Same, mine is round and about 3k rpm. By the way, got another question: how much tyre pressure should there be if my rims are 17" (think it's 225/45/17)?
Virus 2nd Gear July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 29psi to 35 psi should be fine, depending on your ride preference. I've used to pump 35psi front, 33 psi rear.
Putter Neutral Newbie July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 How about for 16" rim?
Virus 2nd Gear July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Same same lah. Want comfort and better grip, lower psi. For better pickup and FC, higher psi.
Lightspeed Clutched July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 (edited) Just to share what I've learnt from my brother-in-law.... A good rule is to take the max tire pressure on the sidewall and inflate it to between 65-85% Another way is to take a piece of chalk and draw a line across the tire and drive around until the tire is warm If the chalk line is erased only in the middle, it's overinflated If it's only erased around the shoulders it's underinflated The above can be applied if you're more concerned about the tire lifespan and not concerned about FC and pickup like what Virus mentioned Edited July 6, 2005 by Lightspeed
XLR8 1st Gear July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Thats a good idea.
Virus 2nd Gear July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Another reason I inflate higher psi is as the air leak slowly, overinflate will became underinflate. So balance liow. Anyway, I'm on N2 since last tire change, so just drop by SE every few months to check and topup.
Lightspeed Clutched July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Hey... I got my tires from there as well... Is the top up free?
Virus 2nd Gear July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Top up is free. Drink is free too.
Cola80 Neutral Newbie July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Thanks for input. I prefer to overinflate too. The impression I get is there is little difference in tyre pressure whether you are on 15", 16" or 17". Vagsg is organising N2 for $5 per tyre at Kallang on 17/7. Anyone keen? Lightspeed Clutched July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Saw that post.... am already on N2... so it's a no no for me... since just learnt I get free top ups from the shop I purchased them Actually... if you go to SE and ask them to fill N2 for you... isn't it $20 as well? Lightspeed Clutched July 6, 2005 Share July 6, 2005 Wah... sounds good.... Drink just help yourself from the fridge? While I was there I just see people opening the fridge and helping themselves
Fortress Clutched July 6, 2005 Author Share July 6, 2005 (edited) Hi, Is your friend's sister selling the Octavia... can help, got my colleague very interested in the car. Curious, what does the N2(assuming it is Nitrogen) going to help in our simple car tyres.
