Hi, thinking of buying a BMW 630 or 645.. any advise?

tks

Porsche Cayman@$303,888 (with COE)..better deal than 6 Series..both 630I and 645I.

And i guess it should be better performance than the 630I or 645I...except the M6...

Cayman - Acceleration from zero to 100 kmh takes 5.4 seconds and the recorded top speed is 275 kmh.

630I - Acceleration from zero to 100 kmh takes 6.7 seconds and the recorded top speed is 250 kmh.

645I - Acceleration from zero to 100 kmh takes 5.8 seconds and the recorded top speed is 250 kmh.

U are absolutely rite. sitting in a porsche remind me of my army day in a landrover. its jus tat bad. IMO paying for badge & speed only.

I guess those old porsche is not as comfort as BMW.....but the new 997 c2 is as good as the 6 series....I had try both. So I guess the Cayman should be as good as the 997. Is true it only have 2 seat....compare to 6Series 4 seat...

But to me....porsche is always 1 class higher than the BMW. With the price now cls to BMW...Y not give it a try.

For myself...I owning a BMW as well.....planning to change it to Cayman.....

2001 E46 3series? Oh believe me.. the temp controls are just the beginning for you.

My 3series gave me tons of weird problems. Radio volume wld suddenly blast when i turn it on. Good thing it didnt jolt me too much to cause an accident. Got that fixed and didnt happen again.

Other problems include:

- Back doors can't open from the inside (happened again months after fixing it)

- Air con fan speed options were either lowest (one bar) or max (many many bars)

- either one of indicator lights blew as often as 3 times in three mths and we're talking about brand new ones.

- huge load of sxxt i cant rem.

I've switched from bimmers to alfas. PML's service standards leaves a bad taste in my mouth too. If u wanna buy a 3series, get the 330i or the coupes. The sedans are really shoddily made.

For BMW Owners

Last week BMW 320i at 135 K +Free servicing

COE at 15 K [sweatdrop]

This week I was quoted 140 K + Free servicing

COE at 11 K [thumbsdown]

Know someone who managed to get at 130 K (last week) after deducting servicing and interest refund...

Am I missing something here or is the salesman untrustworthy? [hur]

For those who bought BMW, how do you 'lower' the price quoted? [crazy]

Be a regular Bimmer customer. I just welcomed a FL 7 series into the family last week and it was certainly priced below market price. "customer loyalty discount"

Not to mention you gotta know a few key appointment holders inside too. [angel]

hey blackford,

no worries with the px, wait for a few months, I'm quite sure u can see `5 mths old' 3 series for sale. Lately I have already noticed at least 3units of `5 mths old' X3 for sale in the classifieds.

Seems like in a bid to gain mkt share, some bimmers are being registered and resold quickly. Thus it may be wise to wait awhile for such relatively new bimmers for sale in the used car mkt [nod]

Just for info, I'm pretty sure PML is desperate to gain mkt share. If u're serious enough, make them an offer which u feel is reasonable eg $130k and ask the SE to talk to `Management'. Also let the SE knows that you're considering a C Class [;)]

Thks for the reply....

price looks like a good deal... [shocked]

C is older model, but more stable. just feel that new 3 series may have recall in due course [lipsrsealed]

1 question, free svc covers everything include parts?

CHEERS!

did drive the C200, mine colleague's, interior is awesome, though 1.8 but supercharge engine is powerful surprisingly. Have not test the new 320 yet.

Test Drive both

C feels slightly dated compared to BMW. Seems like there is more space in the bimmer as well.

Also feel that BMW 3 series has more value compared to C class in terms of image ( don't quote me!)

Drive wise, C class is slighty heavier, but both are good drive.

Just a note, your cockpit instruments are more impressive in C class than the bimmer. Felt the bimmer cockpit instrument looks puny..

Lastly no cruise control in BMW 320i

The C200 Kompressor M271 engine is a better engine than the 4-pot found on current 320. The M271 has better power and torque (163bhp/ 240Nm), and has a nice supercharger sound when revved beyond 3K rpm.

I just saw the C350 with the monstrous looking new V6 M272 engine in a comparatively small looking engine compartment of the C Class in C&C showroom as one of their regular display - that'll make the car fly!
