Hi DIYers,

I want to buy some AWG8 or 4 cables but they tend to come in a 100m roll. I don't need such a long run, so perhaps if some of you guys here want some, we could consolidate and split it?

I've asked a shop at Jalan Besar doing all kinds of cables, and a 100m multi-strand roll of AWG8 (16mm) is about 82 bucks, the AWG4 (25mm) is about $130.

So anyone keen? For myself, I think 25m should be enough, and I think AWG8 is thick enough but if you guys want AWG4, can also lah.

I suggest getting the AWG8 only, AWG4 is way too thick and won't make much diff. Furthermore usually AWG4 is used for the alternator bracket so only short lengths will be used.

AWG4 is really tough to crimp too [sweatdrop]

hi hcgiv942, don't think the wires come in a fancy transparent red insulation - they come in a variety of solid colour insulations. will note your 10m needs. i'll probably want the awg8 cos like what the turbobrick advised, the awg4 is really quite an overkill.

Point to note, those translucent ones are audio power cables which have oxygen free insulation so they'll last longer.

The audio type usually have finer copper strains too.
