why you dont like CVT?

Acceleration faster than manual right due to manual wasting time to changing gears?

Or you too inspired by Initial D and want a manual transission so that you can meddle with the gear stick and drift.... [laugh]

i seriously dun think the cvt is faster than the manual. u dun actually waste time changing gears. wat happens is u change it at an rpm that u like and u can actually do it quicker. and its five speeds, cvt shud be 4 speed rite...so tat gives closer ratios.

but no point changing...alota paper work and besides its a highly complicated process. mayb if yrs is like selespeed or easytronic where its a fully manual car then its easier

You the nitty gritty details unsure.gif

First and foremost ....

1) LTA .... they need to approve your change from an auto to a manual. What reason you gonna provide them ?? I dont like CVT is not reason enough laugh.gif

2) The whole gearbox and all the drive shaft components associated with it .... how to gonna bring it in ?? I dont think they got a manual gearbox for Jazz/Fit in Singapore. Maybe you can use a Honda City gearbox, and that will set you back a couple of thousands.

3) Your Jazz got clutch pedal ?? Dun have right ?? Have to fix that in.

4) ECU .... they got to remap and get you a new ECU ... thats another few thousands, with tuning and all.

In summary .... there is a lot of components involved, not just mechanical components but also legality issues.

ps : How old are you ?? Is this your first car ?? unimpressed.gif

The jazz has been sold for a long while with choice of MT and CVT, so the gearbox is available for jazz locally. However, its not easy to install one... But everything is possible with $$$. Care to share why you would want to change to a MT? [;)] The only reason i ever heard before is someone wanna TC his ride and thus wanna to get a robust MT instead.

Bro Hitman is right.

Cost so prohibitive, you might as well sell off and buy another Jazz/Fit manual. The loss incurred is cheaper than conversion. sweatdrop.gif

cvt is not 4 spd, its just one gear which gives an infinite gear ratio. the pickup sucks, cant even compare to 4 spd auto. feels like an overstretched rubberband when u rev it. in short, cannot make it.

theoritically CVT is a better transmission and can out accelerate a manual trans.

FIA ban CVT in 1994 when Williams is trying to use it in the 1993. http://www.cke-tech.com/cvpst.htm

check out: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt.htm for more info.

see how it performs against manual: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/cvt9.htm

actually not quite true that pickup for Jazz sucks le....

ask any jazz owners, they will share with you the low end is good..

true the gear box might be a significant determinant in the pic kup, however engine specs also critical...the max tor for jazz is only around 2600rpm...so low end good..

correct me if i am wrong... [gossip]
