Hi All,

As seen, with recent cases of 'unexpected' visitors into the forum.

I would like to suggest that we should limit the access of certain folders to registered members only.

Having to surf thru a couple of forums. I realised some of them are already doing so, in which I feel it is good move.

Currently, you just need to register with us in order to view and post. What I have in mind is, how can we further improve the 'security'/access to prevent unwanted guest. sly.gif

Pros:

Users will be more responsible about their posting.

Limited access to guest.

Cons:

Some of you may not feel comfortable disclosing your info to us.

Do feel free to post your view. Kindly refrain from drifting. Thanks.

Suggestion from you (pls reply directly to me if you have any):

1. Members only folder where all the R&D, Mods, and club only informations are available.. (Darklord, Mantaone, Diesel)

2. Can have a "IGNORE" button that can be activated by the mod so that only that user can see his own posts, the rest invisible to everyone else tongue.gif (Radx, Diesel)

P.S: I started this poll to gather more info. This poll have nothing to do with the MCF Board of Directors.

If most of you agreed. then I'll write in the suggestion to MCF BoD.

Hi K,

I totally agree with this concept. Well, I think MCF doesn't really have to collect personal information, but "members" are limited to only people the MODs and Founders know in person. This is usually the stand taken by many forums.

So that makes Meetups sensible. Cos "membership" doesn't promote "exclusivity", but it should promote "responisibility".

User agreement should include user-responsibility to take care of their own access, because they will be held responsible for the violations under their own account.

What is the procedure for registration? If it's a simple filling up a form online & after that gaining immediate access is it effective against unwanted visitors giving false info?

as per our fellow MCFer:

[Diesel] In EuroVanClub, the general public are restricted to view only a couple of general folders. Specific discussions are accessible only for registered members. By registration it means the member has to attend at least one of the meetup & fill up a form. Very formal. Then have to pay a one-time fee.

Note: Diesel, I hope you wun mind I cut and paste your comment here.

Note: Am not asking something as formal as what the EVC is doing. Neither are we asking for any fee to be involve.

Very good question. thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

That why I start this poll... To gather more ideas and suggestions.... A team effort is more effective than individual.

No problems with me at all, just hope i dun get [smash] by the EVC mods haahhahaha [laugh]

Restricting access or making access available for registered members only is a double-edged swaord. Should consider all available options before making any decisions.

If registration is free, i reckon alot of ppl will not mind spending a min or two filling up a form online to gain access for info which he/she may need.

But still, there are jokers who will go a long way to create unwanted situations in the forum. [:/]

noted and is a great idea [thumbsup]

but will this affect the no. of hits to this forum? if no. of hits reduce, then $$ generate from ad will reduce, then dun hv enuff $$ to support this forum, then forum will reach to stage of shut down, then ppl write petition to get this forum running, then forum will not be free to access, then we start to pay $$??

2cents worth of typing [:p]
