Very Good FC of E200K M271 Engine!

Put it this way, the 200k now gives you cheaper road tax, better FC, and a nice badge, so its all not too bad in the end.

Like many earlier mentions by other forummers, the 13-14km/l is reachable, but only on restricted driving conditions. Start and stop traffic reduces the FC of the w211 due to its heavy body down to 8-9km/l.

But in the end, the difference in petrol is at most 50-100 bucks per month, which is fine if you enjoy driving.

yes, guess i'll just have to disregard the FC & move on. yes, it is nice to see the badge sticking out of the bonnet.

It could be because of the drop in transmission fluid, the changing of gears became jerky and erratic, but since you have sent in for reservice, not much else could be done, and hopefully, the transmission is not permanently damaged. you could get C&C to give you extended warranty, but given the quality of the services, even if they rebuild your gearbox, sometime else could be damaged, and it goes on and on

Guess i'll have to live with it. But it's no longer a joy to drive...

Did you go back to C&C to ask for further checks ? I guess it is better to let them know asap and diagnose the problem rather than let it drag.

It could make matters even worse.

30k is fairly new and you shd be enjoying the ride !!!

Maybe i should but i think the service advisor will just laugh it off and think i'm being fussy coz loss of power is a rather subjective problem. Btw do u guys experience a jerky transmission from time to time? Can it be rectified or is it due to improper acceleration such as releasing the accelerator too quickly?

The tranny is jerky before warming up, and also when hard accelerating... sometimes, it will also jerk if it doesn't know which gear its supposed to be in ie, when you accelerate, then brake hard cuz a bike cut in, then you accelerate again..

As long as your car feels like before the 30k service, it should be ok.. sometimes the car is sluggish because of weather or type of petrol used.

The gears will drag quite noticeably at the 2nd or 3rd gear before changing it slows down the pickup. But the jerking is like when u release the accelerator and the gears are changing down. I used to be first off the line even with a very light foot now i gotta push it a bit more..

Maybe C&C changed the transmission software or it is reset so it will have to learn your driving patterns all over.

Sometimes, the car will start to move off in 2nd gear, so it feels a little sluggish.

You can try using the steptronic to force 1st gear, then move off. remember to change your gears before redline. the 1st gear has a low ratio, so should feel quite powerful.. this should give you the rush of power feel again [;)]

Nothing you can do if the car always decide to move off in 2nd in D mode.. maybe C&C can check the software version or correct that.

The less gears shifted through, the more comfy the ride, which may explain this

Sometimes, the car will start to move off in 2nd gear, so it feels a little sluggish.

Merc usually has 2 settings: S and C. S always moves off in 1st gear, and may be a bit more aggressive in shifting. C always moves off in 2nd gear. It's designed for snow/icy weather, and so less jerks but definitely will feel sluggish.

I always keep it in S. Just make sure you're in S setting and drive aggressively for a while, and it'll be fine.

Anyway, after a full software update, it'll need to relearn your driving patterns again. It's expected.

All these are part of Merc design (nothing wrong), and nothing to do with C&C.

Hmm yes it's in s mode can't put it in c mode the fuel consumption will go sky high! Ya maybe i need to give it some time to readapt anyway it's my dad's car but he only drives it on weekends so when he drove the car back he didn't realise anything wrong with it

Hi rt173, very shiny car u have there(wish i could get back that shine on the car) [:(]

Try to wash your rims once a week so they won't lose their shine, though the inside of the rim might be a little difficult to reach i've yet to find the right brush for it up till now...

Yes.

Only setback is it's really a very commonly seen design (be it 16" or 17").

I see >10yr old MBs also using it. Why, last week i saw a camry using that design too.

But like I said ... that's about the only model I know of that has not too many spokes and has concaved design.
