Muffler (Purely cosmetic, or auditory)

Does "muffler" refer to those tailpipe-like things that can be found at most car accessories stores?

 

If so, is that the thing to change if I'm just looking to get a deep sound, but not looking to alter performance? If it is, any recommendations for a legal one that can achieve above effect? I don't want to lose low-end torque in the process, if that's avoidable. Pls advise! Thanks.

 

P/S: I searched and have no idea what straight through, etc, are.

can try fong kim exhaust, deep sound is usually achieved if you change ur muffler system..wld be quite costly

nope, those u seen at accessories shops r called muffler tips.

 

and u want sound, not loose low end, also legal. how to? u know the answer already. go buy a harley davison.

the usual muffler tip r usually bolt on... and yes they r purely cometics... no bassy sound after installtion.. but maybe looks like yr car have more horse power than before..

muffler tips r usually bolted on. but u know the ground rules of some ah beng, "Anything outside the car does not belong to u"

 

just last week, a lancer got his muffler tip and wheel cap stolen. ok lah, not so bad as last year when a nos of them got their OZ SuperLegga removed.

 

if u getting expensive ones, ask the feller spot weld at the top so it is concealed fr sight. bolt face down. this way, if gg thru inspection, at least not so visible. cos it is illegal to weld them to the exhaust. silly rules.
