Pisces69 6th Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 Cud b some of the rubber bushings r worn or need to b lubed, that's all. My mech told me just to leave it lah. A bit troublesome to do it & cause no harm. But I do find the sound quite irritating. Only happens when i'm alone. When car is loaded, the sound goes away due to the lower level of the car. Next time i service, i;ll ask my mech to fix it without fail.
Garlic 1st Gear June 23, 2005 Author Share June 23, 2005 (edited) Spent 1/2 a day at CM and the problem was not fixed ... SA told me they too heard the eek eek sound and did the following: 1) Checked ball bearings and they are in good condition 2) Lubricate and tighten mountings Happily drove out of CM and the sound came back within 15min. Yeobh 4th Gear June 23, 2005 Share June 23, 2005 (edited) Using thier human ears, there is no way the mechanics can detect where the noise or vibrations is comming from unless he is one of the "10 brothers" What the mechanics need is a electronic chasis stethscope - very handy and effiecient. See attached photo - the unit comes with six pick-up sensors and a noise isolating box Edited June 23, 2005 by Yeobh
Pisces69 6th Gear June 23, 2005 Share June 23, 2005 That's why sometimes a small thing like this can cause so much irritation & may turn out to b quite difficult so rectify. Maybe that's why my mech told me to just leave it lah. Tru experience he cud anticipate a job bigger than it initially seems.
Oir11 Neutral Newbie July 4, 2005 Share July 4, 2005 Usually this happens to only old cars. My 1991 swift has some creaking coming from the seats n sides too. DIY by greasing those parts that u can forsee. My door hinge was making this 'crak crak' sound when I brake and i thought it was the brakes that's gone. Once I clean up the hinge n grease it, the sound went away. ↡ Advertisement
