Genie47 1st Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 For beating up a guy and showing remorse, fine $1000 only. Slap a woman and kenna 3mths and ban from driving 6mths. June 15, 2005 Case File MAN HIT TEACHER AFTER ROAD TIFF A 27-YEAR-OLD man who slapped a woman after an argument on the road was yesterday jailed for three months. Mechanic Teh Kiam Tiong, who pleaded guilty to hurting Ms Alison Yong Pee Peng, a 28-year-old teacher, was also banned from driving for six months. A magistrate's court heard that Teh's Honda Civic had suddenly cut across the path of Ms Yong's Toyota Rav-4 at about 9pm on Jan 23 along Tampines Avenue 7. She managed to apply her brakes in time and avoided a collision. Both drivers stopped at the side of the road, and Teh got down from his car and approached Ms Yong's car. He shouted at her for tailgating his car while they were on the Tampines Expressway earlier. He uttered vulgarities at Ms Yong, who was still in her car, and then slapped her on her left cheek, causing her glasses to fall off. Teh then went back to his car and drove off. Teh could have been jailed for up to one year, or fined up to $1,000, or both. ↡ Advertisement

Ahhuat 1st Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 Honestly, I think he got away lightly. For that Citycab $1000 fine case, I think it does not apply here. Let's take the court's decision for the earlier case at face value, he did apologise and make restitution. No mention of that here. And what I personally find different about that casse, that was MAN TO MAN! Hitting a woman! Uh... no...

Ahhuat 1st Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 sorry, but uh.. no.. If u see, he slapped her. How many of us guys, in the moment of rage, want to SLAP another guy! If a guy slapped me, I would probably laugh! Cos it would be so gu niang! So, the way I see it, in this case, the 'slapper' wasnt practicing equality of the sexes either. Btw, it's just my opinion, not fact. If I offend anyone, please dont sue me. Writing apologies on MCF is very time consuming.

Bhaal Neutral Newbie June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 Yes & it should be. Just imagine, all that triggered off this action was the guy thought the lady was tailgating him. So he intentionally stop her by cutting into her path dangerously, shouted vulgarity at her & slapped her. If it had been mike tyson tailgating him, would he have the guts to do what he did? In fact i thought his punishment was too light.

In some countries they throw u in jail forever or pull out your finger nails or rape & kill your family members in front of you or beat you everyday till you ask them to kill you. Over here they only sue you bankrupt for the rest of your life & ruin you financially.
Ahhuat 1st Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 I'm a little out of touch with the Penal Code. Not as in tune as I was back then when I was working in the courts. But I remember whining to my friends in court back then that you cant charge a woman for raping a man! Not as though I would mind being raped by a woman. But that's another story! As for my chastity, I got none anyway!! But my point here, did the assailant have equality in his mind when he slapped her!? Btw, as for other notions of equality, I honestly think we are far from total equality in the sexes... far far...
