What is the probability of two Aveos knocking into each other?

What about 2 Sedan Aveos knocking into each other?

Then what about 2 Sedan SFU plates Aveos knocking into each other?

 

Well, that was what happened this evening. I was reversing into an empty HDB multi-storey parking lot when I heard the other Aveo tooting her horn. Too late, we collided. Apparently, she claimed she did not see me reversing into the lot and was also aiming for that same lot. She then demanded compensation. Of course I did not agree. We settled on repairing or claiming our own insurance.

 

Incidents like this are sad, and I am thinking aloud how I can avoid such a situation in the future.

Always signal your intentions even when backing up into a lot. I don't mean hazzard lights. I mean left or right signal. Couple this with the reverse light, people should know what you are up to. If they dunno what a left or right signal plus reverse light activated means, send them back to driving school.

Both at fault so settle own repair is fairest.

Just remember your lessons. When parking keep checking your surrounding and not just concentrating on getting into the lot.

get it repaired and move on. be prepared to make a report though.. the other party may come around to make claims against u. it happens.. cause people get swayed after the fact.

I don't think its luck in this case. It's whether one is aware of our surrounding or not. Many of us don't get involved in an accident because we make an conscious effort to develop situation awareness and drive defenseively.

 

Luck is when someone someone bang your behind while you have stopped.

While some super careful drivers get into trouble once every year.....

I agree with you luck and fate plays a important part on the uncontrollable factors - crazy driver, tailgaters, fallen tree branches etc

 

But drivers play most part on controllable factors - awareness, anticipate crazy drivers, follow 2 sec rules etc.

 

In the case of threadstarter. Luck and Fate may cause him to meet this kuku driver.

But it's his lack of awareness that caused this particular accident.

It's the driver 90% luck/fate 10% in this case.

 

But if on eway, kenna tree branch fall right on you, 100% luck and fate.
