Cordia_gsr Neutral Newbie June 12, 2005 Share June 12, 2005 Just a rough info: 1st type: Remove the wheel for a machine balance. This will be the normal standard balancing for all wheels. It's more like low speed balancing. This is a must for all tyres when you put on new rubbers. 2nd tyre: Balancing on the car. This will be high speed balancing. You usually go for this when you encounter vibrations from the steering wheel at speeds above 80km/h. This kind of balancing will be able to balance out the wheel as well as counteract against vibrations from the driveshalf.
Cyberet Neutral Newbie June 12, 2005 Author Share June 12, 2005 oic.. but doesn't that also means drive shaft got problems?
Cordia_gsr Neutral Newbie June 12, 2005 Share June 12, 2005 Well, not exactly. As you know, when cars aged, there bound to be some freeplay here and there so things may not be some perfectly concentric as compared to new. In fact, it's quite true that you will experience slight vibrations at high speed when your CV joints are gone.
Cordia_gsr Neutral Newbie June 12, 2005 Share June 12, 2005 Actually, if your wheels are well balanced and you are not experiencing any virbrations when driving. There will not be any need to balance them. Unless you strike some nasty potholes and the vibrations come, then a balance of the wheel may be necessary. I think most of the time, we spend more frequency on 4-wheel alignments instead

Bluecity Neutral Newbie June 14, 2005 Share June 14, 2005 You are rith man. Usually ppl goes for the 1st type. B'coz for highspeed balancing, usually it will eventually wear out the side of the tyre. Unless you r travelling at the speed of more than 130km/h most of time. otherwise, it's not really necessary to do it. ↡ Advertisement
