Benson Neutral Newbie June 14, 2005 Author Share June 14, 2005 got this from one of the site regarding improving of FC "Air conditioners can use about 10 per cent extra fuel when operating. However, at speeds of over 80 km/h, use of air conditioning is better for fuel economy than an open window." so far i have been driving without aircon (if temp permits) and window down, now have to consider just wind down the window just a bit... Tianlun2001 Neutral Newbie June 14, 2005 Share June 14, 2005 Maybe u can insulate the air con pipes like some of them, since the air con has the most energy loss .. I am going to do mind this weekend ... BTW do u have Thermal Guard for your window?
Brock 1st Gear June 14, 2005 Share June 14, 2005 No tuning needed. Just keep our eye on the RPM gauge, listen to the sounds of the engine, and practise the foot pedal. If no one behind me, I slowly depress, guaranteed 2k upshift. Got someone behind me, depress slightly harder and aim for 2.2-2.5k upshift. I only go 3k when I'm overtaking on the expressway and next lane got someone coming soon.
Spango Clutched June 15, 2005 Share June 15, 2005 You mean slowly depress and it will upshift at 2K, depress harder and it will upshift at 2.2 - 2.5k? Didn't realise that... I always drive normally and let it upshift normally... Maybe I should try that out...
Benson Neutral Newbie June 15, 2005 Author Share June 15, 2005 just pump my tank yesterday, FC improve to 10.9KM/L, guess all that no aircon plus soft foot helps. however do think it may not be that accruate as need to consider whether this car park fill my tank all the way... :P anyway do take advantage of the 14% discount for petrol. lucky didnt pump the day before... yesterday the discount shot up to 14%! Brock 1st Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 After my 6th pump, my FC jumped from 9.2km/l to 11.2km/l! First time! This was after Genie's advice to take the highways if possible, 2-2.5k rpm and turn off air con at night when I'm alone (30% of the time).
Brock 1st Gear June 16, 2005 Share June 16, 2005 Yup...if slowly, can upshift at 2k. Moderate range at 2.2-2.5k rpm. Max is 3k rpm (very rarely; like heavy passengers and going upslope). ↡ Advertisement
