Wire Neutral Newbie June 7, 2005 Share June 7, 2005 Heard from my Jap Colleague that he had installed a 5mm spacer in between the rims and the hub. This makes the Wheel "protrude" or flush with the car body which improve the appearance. Anybody hear of or installed such spacer (or is there a proper name for it)? It cost about Yen 2000 per pc. That's about S$28. He says that 5mm is max. Any further, it may wear the drive shaft. Any comments? ↡ Advertisement
Furrynadz 5th Gear June 7, 2005 Share June 7, 2005 most tyre shop have spacer its to correct the wheel, cos his rim is wrong offset, or he want to make it look more garang lor 5mm is not max, can go up to 20mm if u want
Wire Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Author Share June 8, 2005 Found out the actual name for this spacer. It's called WTS (Wide Tread Spacer) 20mm spacer will result in the tire rubbing the fence when tire is rotated to max. How much do they sell in Singapore? Will it affect or wear out the shaft or anything?
Panda Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Hi Wire, Ride on your thread about spacers. I do hope someone can enlighten on the pros and cons between using spacers and using wheels with smaller offsets. Both attempts to achieve the effect of making the wheel appear "flushed" with the car body, which is nice nice nice.

Wire Neutral Newbie June 12, 2005 Author Share June 12, 2005 (edited) Finally.....Thanks for your help Hihi. That's a 25mm Wide Tread Spacer. As you can see, it has extention Bolts x 5 in order to secure your rims. When I said 5mm is max, it means that the Spacer does not have such extention Bolts. If more than 5mm is used (non extention bolts type spacer), your nut locking depth will be too shallow. Edited June 12, 2005 by Wire

Civic155 Neutral Newbie June 12, 2005 Share June 12, 2005 Using spacer is dangerous as the nuts might bot be hold on to the wheels properly. If want a flush look, change rims. If not, don't take the risk or compromise safety coz the only contact for the car and road is the wheels...

EventH 1st Gear June 12, 2005 Share June 12, 2005 (edited) Even those with the builtin extension bolts are not safe?[sweatdrop] http://www.checkerflag.co.jp/widespacer.html The narrowest is 15mm ... with lowered car, wheels will probably kenna the fenders. For the 15mm there is even a special nut..see below relax lar you all so serious Edited June 12, 2005 by EventH ↡ Advertisement
