Brock 1st Gear June 7, 2005 Share June 7, 2005 I tried removing it just to 'see see' and then put it back. Very easy to DIY. Problem is, where to buy replacement filter? BTW Tien, I went down to Hougang Stamford to look for claybar but they only carry rims and tyres. Home DIY sells Meguilar's claybar at $47 .
Tien Neutral Newbie June 7, 2005 Author Share June 7, 2005 hehehe where else but song yi at verasammy road/drive/street! original aircon filter, just tell them your car model can liao. i think for aveo, costs $20 a piece. meg claybar i have not try before, so shall not comment. but for that price... it's way off my budget. i saw the claybar i m using at loyang (near changi v.) and jurong (lokyang? think that's the spelling...). where you stay? hougang? very near loyang mah, just travell down TPE, turn towards changi v. see loyang industrial, turn in and look for stamford tyres megamart. i bought mine there. also heard sembawang has it too. this one is a motor accessories shop. travel along road outside sembawang airbase, going towards the famous prata shop. just before the prate shop, there are some accessories/ tyres/ ICE sys. shops. i think one of those shop selling... price cheaper than stamford i heard. if you around there, can check it out. Cbx750p 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 (edited) Yo Tien, had mine replaced at 20,000 km too but it did not look like yours ! Yours look like it had some kind of fungus growing on it ! Looks like you filter got wet and it did not get a chance to dry up on time ! Sure is pretty scray breathing in air thru that filter ! Make me sick in the stomach ! BTW, the pic are pretty blurr on the macro mode ! Got a better camera or did you take it with the regular phone camera ? Dashingd Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Anyone knows where & how to remove the a/con filter for Optra?
Genie47 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Yeah! That is the what I got. I was about to take a picture comparing the 2 but you beat me to it.
Genie47 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 RTFM! I'm sure it is in there because the Aveo manual shows how to do it too.
Genie47 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Its actually dust/dirt not fungus. The dirt is impregnated into the filter. No matter how hard I whacked the filter, the dust didn't fly off it. It is doing its job well.
Tkew 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 (edited) The filter is under the glove compartment. You will find the cover held in place by 4 screws (philips head). You cannot miss it. Steps: 1. Unscrew the 4 screws (try to use a short screw driver, the clearance is barely sufficient) 2. Remove the cover 3. Pull out the filter with the handle (again due to the limited clearance, you may need to twist the filter a little. I flip over the mat and lining just to provide more clearance) 4. Insert new filter 5. Replace cover and screws Cheers. Edited June 8, 2005 by Tkew
Seaweed 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 your filter is surprisingly dirty...do you circulate air internally or draw air from outside ??? i check on mine when at 30k...still quite clean....
Lukie102 Clutched June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 mine not so dirty at the 20k servicing leh....quite white actually...why urs so dirty....mine using internal circulation
Brock 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Forced myself to make a trip to Loyang. Indeed, they had tons of accessories (except Glanz Wax and Klasse ). Got myself 2 x Soft99 Green claybar. My first time claybar-ring car. Have to. I got hundreds of tiny black tar on my ride, especially on bonnet. Really went in close to examine. So rough. Ugh. Brock 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Same here. Always internal circulation. But sometimes, I would wind down with fans switched off. That could also contribute to future dirt trapped in the filter right? Hopefully my plugged in ioniser is working!
Lukie102 Clutched June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 my windows are winded down during night and early mornings...i am also using ioniser but the filter is not as dirty as tien's!!
Brock 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Maybe Tien is introducing 'other forms of air'.
Genie47 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 I use internal circulation also like that. See below. 20k distance covered. It was dirtier than the one I changed out at 10k. The instruction on the filter states that it has to be changed every 10k km or 6mths.
Brock 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Have your tried your friendly Starsauto dealership at Ubi Road 4 ???? I got mine from them ! Oh really? Just go up to front counter and ask for one? I'm sure it's going to be much more ex than Veerasamy shop! ↡ Advertisement
