Jtmk Neutral Newbie June 7, 2005 Share June 7, 2005 After hearing so much bad thing abt the Rain-X on windscreen but so far still can't find any other product to match its beading effect. Has anyone used Rain-X with silicon blade? Will the wiper still judder? ↡ Advertisement

Toalson 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Question: Why need rain-x if u using silicon wiper blades? tot they r the best n most costly.
Toalson 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Glaco Blades or those u apply on screen??
Octopus 3rd Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 [reply] Tried Glaco series? ....not too bad. Tried before......the blade material is EPDM, which is supposed to be better than the normal rubber material. But nevertheless, still deteriorate within less than a year. Now trying out the silicon type from Twister. Comes with 3 years warranty.
Skywalker Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Feedback from Twister silicon wiper. The plastic latch that clip onto the the wiper hock broke after 3 months, suspect may be the silicon blade is too effective that it judder too much when rain is not heavy, and the little clip is not tough enough to handle. Mine is 22" blade, may be too much force when judder...... anyway 3 years warranty can get free clip for replacement. With this do not apply any coating on the front windscreen, it will make things worst compare to normal rubber blade.
Spango Clutched June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 I am using the Dura-Edge silicon wipers. Judder like hell on treated windshield... Very little judder on non-treated windshield... Have been using it for 8 months and still going strong. It comes with a 5 years warranty.
Jtmk Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Author Share June 8, 2005 Sorry, I'm little confuse with your question I tot rain-x is supposed to make the water bead and silicon blade is juz to provide a smooth sweeping action on the windscreen???? Why do you say use silicon blade then no need rain-x.... pls enlighten me. Thanks
Toalson 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 as some mentioned the above post, using the silicon blade alone is enuff n rain-x might complicate matters.
Czchome Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Try Trico Teflon Blade it good , it so smooth even i'm using '24'blade on driver side.
Spango Clutched June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Problem is, only silicon blades can withstand the harmful effects of heat under the sun. Those Telfon coated rubber blades will still harden and spoil over time...
Jtmk Neutral Newbie June 8, 2005 Author Share June 8, 2005 Hi Toalson, sorry again, may be i'm a little slow. You mean using silicon blade alone will make water to bead on the windscreen???? How does that work??
Spango Clutched June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 I think he wants the beading effect but not the juddering effect... That's why he is considering silicon based wipers...
Toalson 1st Gear June 8, 2005 Share June 8, 2005 Sorie as Spango mentioned, if u're looking at the beading effect then only Rain-X would hv that effect n the silicon wiper is just to ensure smooth wiping action. However, if Rain-X is not applied consciencously n regulary u'll encounter the judder problem as many had. For beading effect, Autoglym glass polish oso can. U wan can let u try mine Good luck on ur choice of Rain-X

I'm on 18" and 16", only using it for about 2 months. Juddering is minimum, which I think it comes from the manual car washes at petrol kiosk. Probably the shampoo they use contain some wax. Cleaning helps in my case, but comes back again if car is dirty.
