given enough rubbish products, and enough time... they'll flock elsewhere...

if the koreans improve enough...they'll get the pie...

Supercharged

hehe......key is "enough"

to me, sg car buyers just take too long to find out. remember in 2000, the sunny still outsold the corolla, despite corolla having a better overall performance, higher omv, greater reputation worldwide and a negligible difference in sellling price. it took quite a while before sg consumers realise that corolla was giving better value then.

for the fortuner case, i think the sales will be good..until when some finally realise fortuner cannot make it, another good toyota model introduced would have erased this bad memory and make them support toyota yet again.

for the toyota to lose its no. 1 mantle in sg, something more disastrous must happen.

not hiace... its basically a mod up version of the hilux pickup...

the actual 4WD hilux twincab truck is a beast... but that the diesel turbo charged version where its more logical... more power and torque...

toyota basically cover up the rear and throw in some mpv chair inside... 160 plus bhp for this 2 ton monster is totally not enough... think its will drink petrol like free... but if got diesel version with bigger engine... it will be sweeter... if not i think the original hilux 4wd truck is more logical...

Supersonic
The first time I saw the specs, I thought: "These clowns must really love Toyota to pay $90k for a Hiace..." hur.gif

know i know the meaning behind the term: ladder frame chassis. i had to use a ladder on the frame juz to climb into this truck!

not only hilux... the american market Toyota Tacoma(something like that) is also using the same plateform... Anyway Toyota is not the only one.

Ford owns Volvo, do you see the S40 has some similarity as the Mazda 3? [;)]

it's way too big....very difficult to park cos' it filled up the entire lot and further with petrol prices rocketing, it really make no sense to buy one....well unless petrol prices dosent really matter to u.

there was an article written on toyota fortuner a few weeks ago in ST and today as well. Can check it out if you want. If i'm not wrong, the journalist was questioning the BM rationale of bringing the fortuner instead of wish. I think overall it's not really a postive review, apart from the price which i think it's pretty low.

wat is fortuner ???

It's a Sports Utility Vehicle.

More of a Poser, for those who want lots of metal for little money.

Borneo Motors has the Picnic, of course they will not bring in the Wish.

Just as Champion Motors has the Jimny, so they are not bringing in the latest model 1.6l 3 dr Vitara.

I thought I saw somewhere (ST?) that BM is bringing in Wish towards the end of the year. They just cannot sit there and let the PIs selling Wish like hot cakes without doing anything.

My observation on Fortuner:

1) Singapore road does not need 4WD SUV. If SUV is your cup of tea, consider those SUV crossovers like Toyota Harrier, Lexus RX, Nissan Murano which are all car based instead of truck based. They will drive more like a car than a truck.

2) If there is a second driver - the tai tai, then definitely a no no. You don't want your wife to try to park that thing in a MSCP. It will be extremely difficult even with reverse parking sensor. Climbing in and out of the "truck" will not be very graceful for the ladies. They will frequently get their feet/pants dirty when getting in and out of it.

3) Like everyone here mentioned, this "truck" needs a bigger engine. More like a 3.5 liter V6 at least but with that you are going to pay through your nose on the road tax. a whopping $4,050 a year on road tax not to mention the amount of gasoline in order to satisfy the thirsty 3.5litre engine.
