Elina Neutral Newbie June 3, 2005 Share June 3, 2005 Correction: In TODAY papers today, in the family of 4 example used by PTC, they conveniently assumed that one of the kid in primary school walks to his school. makes one wonder how they come up with these assumptions in the 1st place. Osiris 1st Gear June 3, 2005 Share June 3, 2005 KNS. That's typical massaging data to get what they want. Reminds me of 2nd hand car dealers that advertise cars for incredible price, when you go there, they tell you not including COE etc etc. or must put high d/p. Fine by me if they take out 1 child. But going by my numbers, with assumption only 1 child taking PT, They can only make additional 3 trips on wkends with the same fare structure to be less than <$150. I don't think that's really realistic.

Jamesgetz 4th Gear June 3, 2005 Share June 3, 2005 hahaaa... this thread started out as a qn on fuel saivng device and ended up being a rant on PTC. it's not surprising PTC came to this decision. SBS and SMRT are both GLCs. do u think the left foot will purposely step on the right foot of the same person? gahmen always advocate self-independency and self-financing, and hence CPF, medisave, blah... the same principle goes to the governance of GLCs and hence the same profit-driven mentality of GLCs natural monopolies such as telcos, land transport coys, SIA. if the GLC is doing badly, the CEO/MD of the coy will likely be asked to go fly kite. naturally, GLCs are always on the look out to lower their bottomline or increase their revenue. there r obviously pros and cons so we can't have our cake and eat it. now back to fuel saving devices. generally speaking, the truth in the claims of these devices are as accurate as the calculation done by the PTC in their typical S'pore family scenario calculation

Victor68 Turbocharged June 4, 2005 Share June 4, 2005 It depend on who instructed the survey. If the government wanted to tell the public than this pple will come up with support data or charts that show the decision is correct. Such tricks old lioaw, Sg like a frog living in a well for too long. ↡ Advertisement
