Finally I made my way down to

pxx xxxg BATTERY AND TYRE CO.

Blk 4002, Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 1

#01-04, Singapore 569623.

Tel : 6456-3344

Contact person is: Justin

Initially only intent to change tyre but saw a nice 16" rim so very tempted. So without the intention to buy in the first place, start bargaining with Justin and to my surprise we closed the deal below $800/- for the 16" rim (4 nos) plus 4 205/45/R16 BS GIII tyres. How to reject such a price, so on him. Btw the price he quoted includes trading in my existing tyres and rim. Also if you mention you are member of MCF I think you should get a better price. Here are 2 pcs for show.

Hi Vin2212, I'm not sure how you calculate the % error but following one of the link provided in another topic, the % error comparing 195/55/R15 and 205/45/R16 is very small and also the closest you can get.

Manage to find the link,

IMHO, one of the best wet tyres is Falken ST-115. Quiet enough and comfortable. Downside is not lasting.[/reply]

I jus met 1 dude at pxx xxxg on sat (020705) who drives a mazda 6 GTS. Came with 17" rims and ST115. He says the handling and grip IS good, but bloody noisy. When travelling on expressways, says he can hardly hear his gf talking...

Whats your take on this?:>

hi, i did go down to have a look but i guess as i am a gal with a small car they were not too interested or busy........wanted to ask, mine is a 14 inch wheel but wht brand of tires r good for for roads in malaysia and if i wanted to upgrade to a 16 inch wheel, my friends say the noice is lourder than my comfort wheel, do i need to bring the car lower to the tires or change any part?

hiya,

there are many many types of tires but the main questions are 1) budget 2) your preference? Do u want comfort tires? or do you prefer super grippy stuff?

If your a safe driver, don take hard corners, don speed too much and always keep your distance, I think u can get Turanza GR 80 tires. Silent & comfortable. Cos for 14" im not sure what other High Performance tire sizes are available

As for ur 16" upgrade, well...ur ride will be bumpier because of the lower tire profile. Pick up and Fuel consumption should suffer because of the larger contact area with the road and heavier rims. As for the noise levels, depends on ur tires u choose. But remember, the bigger the rims and tires, the more money u will have to spend as well.

Lowering ur ride with bigger rims will give ur car a sportier and "fiercer" look. Lowering is good for the centre of gravity = more stable. Downside is ur ride will be firmer and bumpier aka less comfortable.

So think abt it, prioritise on which is more important to you. I hope my inputs have helped alil, anything can just ask, im sure everyone here will help! [thumbsup]

Bridgestone Potenza GIII's performance is good [thumbsup]

It's slippery when wet......so dun try anything funny when it's raining. I learnt the hard way..... [sweatdrop]

Now I swear off Potenzas....

What happened? What speed were you travelling?

You cannot tyres to grip the wet rd like on a dry rd.
