Fastjimmy February 22, 2010 Share February 22, 2010 hi silver how was yr servicing experience at MM? well i did not hear from ppl comments abt MM but had a personal experience from them..i remember a quotation i got from them..labour to do some simple repair was 800 bucks excluding parts..now i actually source the parts elsewhere and get any workshop to do repairs... i believe there are ppl who would be interested in a jaguar group ...maybe we could be the pioneer ... A (forum) group of jaguar owners is a good idea - at this point, there're a few identified from related interests or this discussion i.e., myself or fastjimmy, Umscari, Silverleaper, Hwchoy, ClassicCars, you Exprimez, perhaps not big enough now to form a convoy but may still be worth starting. ↡ Advertisement
Tron Neutral Newbie February 22, 2010 Share February 22, 2010 why not tie up with the FORD owners group? The X-type is basically a mondeo in drag (albeit quite nice looking drag) - engine, chassis are all shared. Cost of Normal servicing on a X-type shld not be too far off from what a careful Mondeo owner would pay for or perform on his/her ride. Sharing info with the enthusiastic Fordies shld bring up some surprising info on the X-type. a suggestion is to use the standard charges a mondeo owner pays to service his ride as the basis of how "affordable" servicing your X-type could possibly get? Fastjimmy February 23, 2010 Share February 23, 2010 chassis is indeed Mondeo; engine isn't lah..unless someone's got a Ford to speed off line to line with a Jag X before, will confirm the performance difference. likely race stretch spotted along Changi parallel to air track

Kkss_tt Neutral Newbie March 23, 2010 Share March 23, 2010 After reading, I am keen of having X-type 2.0SE. I went for a test drive with my wife for 06 car. We feel that the rear sit leg space abit small but it is good drive for driver. Any senior advise to add before I settle for it. Thanks in advance
Red_alert Neutral Newbie March 26, 2010 Share March 26, 2010 Hi my x type is coming close to 100K been driving it for 4-5yrs, I think I need to change the below any lobang: 1) Spark Plugs ( most workshop cannot do due to accessibility, MM advice was to do it at 100K) 2) Auto Transmission oil 3) Timing belt/chain ?? ( do I need to change this?) 4) Any other things? Engine Oil and filter I just change recently with my usual workshop. And I get about 8km/l any way to improve the fuel consumption? Thanks! Plus I find fuel consumption is better when 98 oct fuel.. Regards

Fastjimmy March 31, 2010 Share March 31, 2010 just go get it, purely for the desired looks & join the upgraded class ; hopefully the price's been settled before all current COE hike/hype which has caused used car dealers to pad in prices (by >$3k at least)..i just sold my X earlier this month. Hwchoy Neutral Newbie April 22, 2010 Share April 22, 2010 when you service at the agents (at least my experience with Performance and Malayan), they will go through your car with a fine tooth comb, so that things get attended to before they start failing. your outside mechanic will only do what you tell him to do. this is a fundamental difference in service philosophy so if you like to have your car thoroughly checked guess you need to be willing to pay a bit more. especially for Malayan where the mechanics are well trained and yet have low volumes to spread the cost. also the X-type AJ V6 petrol engines are only based on the Ford CD132 engines. There are many modifications to it including variable valve timing so it is not quite a mondeo in sexy clothes. recently changed my head light bulb at Malayan, charged almost $50 (bulb $16, labour $30) so yes it costly from an absolute point of view, but ok $50 is not a lot of $$ and I didn't have to break a sweat while drinking coffee, even though they took an hour to get it done. Acrophobia Neutral Newbie August 2, 2010 Share August 2, 2010 but i still think Merc(C&C) service is EXPENSIVE compared to JAG (Malayan Motors)! i paid 400++ for the FIRST service for my C200 :(:(:( really a pain in the pocket plus no 1 year free service....... unlike Jag ↡ Advertisement
