Lets not stereotype here alright ? sure bro... not sterotyping, but im just fuming abt wat happened to me last nite... so to me up till last nite, all cabby are unfriednly.. hehe.. peace bro! I had my fair share of bad taxi drivers and some good ones. There are blacksheeps amongst them. I used to hate all of them till some of them were actually friendly. "Some" not all. In future take down their plate number and report them. ↡ Advertisement

Carmodz Neutral Newbie May 30, 2005 Share May 30, 2005 "I don't blame taxi drivers. I sympathy them. Some of their driving habits may be terrible, but I forgive them. You might be worse than them if your first 6-8 hours of work is for someone else." TPLOH, i agree with you abt them having to support their livelihood and its great of you to be such a nice and forgiving person. But personally, not only have I seen barbaric taxi driving skills, I hav met into 2 accidents involving taxi...Therefore I'm kindof scared or wary of taxi drivers. The 1st got me in a head-on accident while he tried to cut my lane to enter a Condo's estate, and the other 1 did me good from behind...Its an exciting story to tell my friends how I flew across the taxi (was riding my sccoter then), but then, what if I hadnt lived to tell the story? Then I guess the next best person to tell would be found at Basement 18 - Mr Yan Luo If someone you knew had perished or worse, became a vegetable, would you be able to forgive the driver? I'm sure you could, but is it worth it to lose a life just because of their impatience? Im sure any other driver could have caused the same damage, but glad to say, no other civillian vehicles have damaged my bike or car. Only taxis.. Just my 2 cents worth. But nw, i understand the fact that earning bucks is tough. So, i would just curse in the car and venting out anger in the forum. I suppose im already doing enough leniency for the taxi drivers for 'protecting' their rice bowl. But they should noe hw to appreciate. if not, then its too bad. Panda Neutral Newbie May 30, 2005 Share May 30, 2005 I was thinking, because there are alot of taxis on the road, do we identify them individually or was it because the black sheeps have forced people to form prejudices about their driving habits? Something to think about? Cos its so easy to identify a Taxi. Whatever cab, whatever company, whatever driver. If you group them as a whole, there are more Taxis on the road than single makes of cars. I am wary of Taxis too. Not because I hate them, but sometimes just have to becareful around them cos their attention is divided between the traffic and potential passengers. IMHO, Taxis behave the way they are because they're numb to the road. Try driving at least 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, you'll know what I mean by numb. The miles they clock put Le Man drivers to shame. So probably alot of other drivers whose livelihoods depends on wheels exhibit the same behaviour too. They're just so bored and numb on the road. Just a thought. Please don't flame me. I'm not a taxi driver, but I do ferry people around alot.
Sei_fei_loh 1st Gear May 30, 2005 Author Share May 30, 2005 haha.. no problem but still i dun like way they drive on public rds.. imagine u doing 90km/h -100km/h and a taxi just cut into ur lane, u jammed brake, missed him, but the fella behind kissed u and the taxi runs away?? haiz.. hw to fogive that particular taxi driver? Panda Neutral Newbie May 30, 2005 Share May 30, 2005 Hmm... if both of you goes to IDAC with that Taxi's number and he being the cause of such an accident plus Police report. The insurance company of the guy behind (if you sympathize with him and help him) may be able to take up a case. Cos you're a 3rd party witness. Nightfalls Neutral Newbie May 30, 2005 Share May 30, 2005 (edited) used to them sudden switching lanes to pick up passenger, or inconsiderate passenger requesting for last minute turn....they are earning a living... but one thing i cannot tahan them is that they like to drive 3/4 in one lane with the other 1/4 of their car body in the next lane....or 2/3 and 1/3... i cannot tahan them when cut into their lanes(taxi) and they honked like no tomorrow..and stopped at roadside with a taxi behind honking! When they(taxi) can do the same thing to other motorists...so please know how idiotic it is to obstruct...so also be forgiving to other motorist who happened to cut lanes (not sure which roads to use) and stopped (alighting someone) to obstruct a taxi at rear! Tploh Clutched May 30, 2005 Share May 30, 2005 Agree with you. Our opinion is shaped base on our experience. Each of us experience the different angle of taxi drivers and thus each of us have all these different opinion. There is no right or wrong here. What if the vehicle that made you across the taxi is a sedan ? There are all sort of drivers on the road. I would have agree to "Reckless drivers!! U like them ?" but not "Taxi drivers!! U like them ?" A driver is at fault if he is at fault, regardless of the type of vehicle he is driving. I am not siding taxi drivers, but I can understand them and not let my blood pressure rise because of them.
Tploh Clutched May 30, 2005 Share May 30, 2005 Has anyone wonder why taxi drivers behave negatively like some said ? If you are the govt, what would you do to change that ? ↡ Advertisement
