CITGO Motor Oil (10W30 SUPERGARD)

This is a dino oil. From what I heard, if you are realistic in your driving. No chionging on track. Value very hard to beat. The price is almost the same as the 10W30 dino oils that Malaysia Kancils use but now available in Singapore!

Just remember to monitor. Change out at 8k interval and monitor how the oil is doing.

A recent UOA from a guy using it in his V6 had the oil thin from an SAE30 to a high SAE20 at 9.2cSt. Actually no bad already. Consider yourself using a 20wt oil from 5k km onwards. laugh.gif Your FC all of a sudden improves!

Considering that most car owners here go for 10k km OCI. It is actually not an issue. I would not hesitate to use it. BUT! No more than 10k. Maybe drain out by 8k km (5k MILES).

Check it out here http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultima...t=002550#000000

IMHO, the person who did the UOA is a little paranoid. Just like me when the UOA of the cxxxxxe came out. No worries. thumbsup.gif

What would be nice is to have Citgo Ultralife 10W30. The oil does not qualify for API SL with so much zinc inside. Up to 1200ppm an above shocked.gif. Almost the additives you find in the diesel engine oil but will produce the lowest wear and best results for any engine. That is until you discovered your cat converter was killed by it. laugh.gif

Actually I overhyped the cat converter part. As long as your engine is not suffering blow by, your cat converter should live very well to a ripe old age.

Supergard is mineral. Nothing wrong with that. That is why I say with this oil cannot chiong go tracking or scream up the E2 in 160+kph. Must keep to speed limits.

That means its good enough for city + s'pore highway driving and occasional 4-5K revs?

Been using RP since my 10K service, is it harmful for the engine if I switch to mineral?

Nope not harmful. Just use. Car in Singapore cannot last more than 10yrs. Just use the cheapest available that is enough to do the job. RP is good oil but you can continue to use it if you want. The price also cannot be beaten for a synthetic. 5W20 Performed better than the Motul 5W20 when Ken4 tested it.

This sleeper oil has a flash point of 469'F, higher than some synthetic oil. Moly about 90-100+ ppm, pretty good if you are looking for some moly in the oil.

Look into your driving conditions. If you are hitting 70% highway, stretch it to 10k OCI. I did that with the Conoco Hydroclear 5W30 TBN went down to 3 only. Still alive and strong.

The US guy drained it out at 3k mi. That is around 5k km. The TBN looks OK even though he reports it thinning to a 10W20 (quite good I must say).

I just poured in the oil yesterday because I have hit 40k already. The oil is just like the Conoco Hydroclear. Amber clear liquid like cooking oil. Looks promising. sunny.gif
