Can it be spoilt spark plug? Maybe 1 out of 4 is spoilt. I guess only. Try drop a water droplet onto the 4 header pipe when the car is idling. The cool one that doesnt boil the droplet is the one that the spark plug is spoilt.

I recently bought another smaller cc car, the honda city Vtec, with rather weak low end torque. However, i change gear @ 1.8krpm... so on 50km/h, i am on 5th gear liao... Normal slope, not a problem climbing, but haven't tried the slope you mention about. Half rev, the vehicle starts to pickup rather fast even on the slope @ 50km/h... [lipsrsealed] Experience sharing... I used this method for all my previous and current rides though... [;)]

hey u were almost there... picked up that either the MAP or the oxygen sensor or the stepper motor could be faulty. replacing the battery didnt resolved the problem cuz as soon as I hit the highway after picking up the car, it started choking up again... some kinda servicing... have to send in again!

Haiz. I am really starting to lose confidence of the dealership. How can it be battery related? Once the engine is started, the power is constantly feed by the alternator. If the battery can't hold a good charge, the phenomenon should be difficulty in starting. If its faulty in a way that it can't deliver the requested voltage by the ECU, you will feel weakness at all rpms i.e. all driving condition and not just upslope. Try to off your aircon going upslope. If you still experience the same problem driving up hill, its almost 100% not battery or alternator related. From the symptoms you mentioned, it has a high chance its air flow related, be it an airflow sensor or a leaky pipe/ intake manifold. You might want to ask your mechanic to clean the intake manifold together after replacing the air flow sensor. Some cars only have the Manifold Air Pressure sensor. Turbo charge cars usually have both MAF and MAP to check on the 2 different intake source.

Until this point, it's not about going up slope anymore. The engine just choke as and when it likes. But for the fact that it didn't stalled mean am still very much in control just not moving and it's not nice at all cuz nowadaes am pondering if I should drive faster (especially >70) for the fear it starts acting up again and that I may lose control. *touchwood* tongue.gif Went thru all the threads in one of the oversea Peugeot forum last night... IIRC, it was said to be documented by Peugeot as a known issue and it's a generic problem and there's no proper right solution to it. *faint* Have to keep on trying things like cleaning/changing out the MAP sensor, stepper motor, oxygen sensor...

Closure for this power loss problem. Manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor found with a crack and was leaking. Had it replaced. Now everything's ok!

That explains it.. when going out of breath it means the car is running too lean, because alot of unmetered air enter through the MAP sensor crack.
