1. Was considering VTI-S but dislike the Sunroof. Feel so exposed and no sense of safety. More over no stock for the choice color and the new batch come with cream color interior. It was a timing issue then.

2. SOHC or DOHC doesn't really bother me. Afterall its just a 1.6A Japanese car.

3. Ya, brake is a let down but it is something that can be rectified after the warranty period.

Hi i'm currently looking at the ES5. Went for test drive felt the spongy brakes were quite bad [:(]

Other than that it's really a nice car [thumbsup]

If they had the DOHC it would definately have been better! But then again this SOHC engine would most probably out-perform most DOHC engines [sly]

1. I have the same thought about the brake too. I was told it could be corrected by adjusting the brake alignment during my 1K servicing. However, not recommended for new car which has not been run-in yet.

2. After changing to 215/40/R17 rims/tyres, I find the brake more responsive and have stopped pursuing the matter.

3. DOHC is a good to have for ES5. If they have dark interior and a black car then, I might ended up with a VTI-S.

Oh ya, the beige interior didn't turn me on too. The Optitron gauges were simple & clean-looking [thumbsup]

Now just hanging on to the thought of getting one [sly]

I doubt we'll ever have a similar civic in future. Told by SE future models all 1.8L & above. Most probably the Citys will get upgraded to 1.6L class.

Owned a 01 model, some of the things to be aware and lookout during the warrantly as follows:

- Driver seat mount. It may loose up easily and basically the mount problem. KM rectify by putting a "washer" inbetween the mount...problem solve only last max 1 month.

- CVT gearbox. Well known problem. Look out for engine jugging during cold start, RPM dropping and speed lagging when driving from standstill...normally happen after 60KM milage

- Power sterring, new model should not have this problem as they using the older civic version. The oil version as i am told.

- Changing of brake pad - Heard only original brake pad works, any chong one will give squieeking sound...according to many workshop outside. But original is 2 time more expensive.

cheers

1. Ae you talking about the ES8 model with a 1.5L engine? I heard about the gearbox thingy, is this a generic problem or happen by random?

2. I thought seat mouting is a simple problem to rectify? Are you a heavy person?

Am I late for your reply?

That is a Cheetah Ignition Cable.

Was very 'In' during the period of

1990 - 1995.

This is a King Lead which connects

the Ignition Coil to the Distributor

and function is to carry 10kv - 12kv

of electrical supply necessary for

firing the sparks plug.

By changing to a better King Lead, in

this case a cheetah cable, it is said

to have better electrical transmitiabiliy

and also offers better noise suppression.

(Humming sound from the stereo)

However, present cars are having distributorless

ignition so Cheetah cables are a thing of the

pass now.

Hi all,

I am driving a Honda Civic also.. ES9 maybe i not sure.. SFT.. I wanted to fit a alarm for my car... but i want to retain the immobilizer n use of the orginal remote key.. what alarm to go for... ? which one is good n what is the price range...?

i got mine from NHK at turf city for $180..alarm with anti shock, used back original immobilizer as well

Sometimes, I wonder if the aftermarket alarm system is less effective than the factory fitted one. The in-thing is to have ail those mentioned features on one key.
