Hitman Neutral Newbie May 13, 2005 Author Share May 13, 2005 Actually a lot of tech is transferred to road going cars via F1. VTEC is a classic example However, dun expect tyres from F1 to go to your car cause it may stick the dry , but you have to have a tyre crew ready if it rains to change from dry to wet tyres
Tazdevil Neutral Newbie May 13, 2005 Share May 13, 2005 not to mention to intermediate if it is not heavy rain... good riddens to ferrari for being so arrogant... but the sports still lack in terms of rivalry... and the commentator sucks...... Dtvox Neutral Newbie May 13, 2005 Share May 13, 2005 F1 these days are being run by regulations. You could say its down right boring. It certainly wasn't what it was in the 80's. I started following the F1 scene in 1986 where you have drivers like Mansell (my all time favorite), Piquet (did not like him because he took the world championship away from Mansell), Senna and Prost. Back then F1 was fun. You see cars racing (full throttle) into pits with their turbo-charged engine. Although there were dominant teams back then, namely Williams, the other teams were able to pull surprises now and then. You have Prost in McLaren and Senna at Camel Lotus that makes racing interesting. There weren't refueling down in those days (one tank run the whole race) and you would often see Ferrari running out of fuel. Pit stops were a major focus as cars get out of the pits based on how quickly the pit crews changed their tyres and not when the fuel nozzle comes off. Of course safety is a major concern but if you look at the number of fatality on the track, it seems like a majority of them comes after all the additional 'spoilers' are put in place. It is just sad to say that the success of a F1 team boils down to just tyres...
Tploh Clutched May 13, 2005 Share May 13, 2005 F1 tyres, not LTa friendly. No Tread one. And you need to "warm up" the tyres, before you go to work.
