In that case, Hyundai Accent 1.3 may be a better deal, although its interior is more cramped.

Hyundai is slated to be the next Toyota.

i drive wira1.3 yr 2001.

it came with mitsubishi ECU, FC by average 13.5km/L (light foot driver).

this car looks like "a cost down" car.

door trim is cheap, have u seen it?? [shakehead]

latest model came with siemen ECU, has worse performance and many problems compared with mitsu version: throttle body dirty, slower respond, higher FC and cant be tuned.

so, i dont recommend this car.

The rented Wira 1.3 I drove is Jan 2002 model. The fuel consumption was better than 2001 Accent 1.3.

So the latest Wira with Siemens ECU is worse off?

For those who missed this good deal, now Wira 1.3 selling for $44,999 [thumbsdown]

Latest model of Wira comes in siemens ECU do have a slight difference in performance, FC when compared to the mmc ECU. However, the engine type is different and can say in terms of potential, the new Wira has it. Why? (many pple will say siemens cant tune... so lousy)

Siemens ECU can be tuned, BUT only idling by the PDT2000 device. The rest CAN also be tuned if the correct device is used. Many workshops would say that siemens is a piece of junk/useless or whatsoever because SIMPLY they cant tune it. SAFC can also be used to piggy back the siemens ECU, which in the early stage many workshops say siemens cant work with SAFC. Because a ECU is out, and no one can tune it doesnt mean that the power is not there.

Try to change your camshaft and to adjustable pulley. If can, do a PnP. You will be suprise that ECU is not the thing that really controls your power. The TB dirty issue, do you really thing your TB can be so dirty til your engine MAP sensor cant work properly?

I got 12km/l from the 1.3 Wira rental car - that is with constant hard driving on 95RON petrol.

Fuel tank is 50 litres.

I did hear fo some rattling sounds with the older Protons.

Hard fight between Wira and Accent - both same price.

Wira - Spacious and cheap spare parts, but must use minimum 97RON petrol and above.

Accent - Better built quality but noisier engine and smaller interior. Can use 92 RON petrol.

hmm... wira can also take 92RON.. [sly]

yap, the idling is only can be tuned by PDT2000 thingy.

i also heard it can be piggied back, at a JB workshop, a gen2.

my gf drives 1.3 wira, siemen type.

my experience with her car, the throttle respond is slower compared with mine.

FC is about 12km/L.

further, siemen type wira normally comes with patco compressor (aircon).

the performance is not better than denso compressor.

for the throttle body dirty problem, symptom is engine die off during idling.

many siemen ecu wiras suffer this problem including one of my coliq (wira 2 yo 1.5gli).

i cant understand how it is related with map sensor. pls enlighten me.

Just saw in the Straits Time classad: Wira OFFER $38 988.............. [bounce2]

In May when there was this offer, Cat A COE was close to S$19K, now its only S$11,600.

So while the car price may seem to be still cheap and low price, but buyers now lose out due to lower COE.

Those who bought in May had it good - low price plus high COE value, hence higher papar & resale value.

Don't buy proton no matter how cheap it is. I am a proton owner myself and the proton now aren't using parts from mitsubishi.e.g the air in take manifold can be tune for my model(1998) but all the new proton are not able to tune. That is when spoil the whole assemble got to change. Dun believe look at old proton wira then look at new proton wira. Technology of this model is going backwards instead of forward
