some pple prefer to wash with plain water only.

No shampoo or detergent.

The waterless method also require the special detergent cleaner. So washing the cloth soaked with the cleaner will also add environmental waste load to treat water used for washing cloth.

Hi-Glaze88 mixed with water. Using MF cloth to wipe and dry. Works very well. Smooth and shine maintain every once a week.

Hi Glaze88 is good stuff as I had used before to maintain shine. I switched to Duragloss no rinse. Adds a just waxed surface after washing and using less water than conventional wash. But since this is about cloth to for washing and drying. Think any microfibre is fine as long loose dirt is first rinse off before cleaning with it as microfibre catches dirt and scratches surface if not clean . Drying - I used 2 towel. Occasional wipe down which is a japanese chamois and weekly one I used the duragloss drying towel after no rinse wash. Works well for me to minimise scratches for my black ride.

Yes, its better to sponge for washing and cleaning, then wiping dry with a good micro fibre cloth. However, usually a micro fibre cloth itself would suffice.

Over the year, I have tried different drying chamois, towels etc.

My personal favorite is dura gloss large drying towel which I Bought from MD in this forum. That towel can dry the entire Honda jazz without squeeze drying and still with room to spare to absorb more water.

Cleaning cloth I hardly use since I use meguairs ultimate quick detailer to clean the car which uses merguairs own detailing cloth that leaves no swirl marks if applied gently.

Hope the above helps.

hi i have a qn. do i have to wet the car with water first before using the shampoo on the car? if so, do i need a separate cloth just to wet the car with water first? and another cloth to use for the shampoo?

Here's my ritual but it involves using loads of water though.... [:p] :

1) Fill pail with plain water, use a bailor and splash car down to remove dirt. No cloth no sponge.... just keep splashing water. This is akin to hosing the car down like they do at petrol station car wash

2) Then I will start cleaning my rims. For this I will use a cloth and wet in a pail of water to clean each individual spokes. Finish off rims by splashing more water onto each rims

3) Then I refill the pail with fresh water. Scoop a bailor-ful of water and then add a small capful of shampoo into the bailor. Then use a sponge to sponge with car with the shampoo water. I go by sections, starting with the top. I shampoo till I use up the bailor of water.... then scoop a new bailor-ful of freshwater and repeat sponging the same section.

4) After the shampoo, I will again splash the section with fresh water to wash off the shampoo.... no cloth or sponge.... just keep splashing again.

5) Repeat for each section --> Top --> Back --> front --> sides --> Lower part of the car

6) Dry off with drying cloth

7) Use newspaper to clean windscreen and glass panels....

8) Apply dashboard cleaner to clean interior

8) Use newspaper to dry off tires and rims.....

9) Apply tire shine

10) Rinse cloth, sponge, bailor, pail etc.......

Go home feeling happy!! [:p]

Total time = 60mins ~ 75mins

I think no one else in SG uses this towel for dry cleaning of their car, but anyway.....

SAF green MF bath towel!

$6 for each towel, considered "free" if you use your credits to purchase.

Super absorbent, super big, and can towel dry in one go without the need to really squeeze. [cool]
