Sweeney 4th Gear June 28, 2005 Share June 28, 2005 No... conventional auto cogs with different gear ratios. Didn't go any further with the research... test drive. Bottom line I find too expensive for a 1.3L, tech wise nothing new... only plus point is space and fuel economy.
Aidan 1st Gear June 28, 2005 Share June 28, 2005 (edited) Am driving one now. FC is , consistently hitting above 15-17km/l. 80% highway, 20% city driving. Easy to drive, no challenge if you want more "feel" on the road. Engine is smooth and now even smoother after my 5k servicing with amsoil. Pickup is good for a 1.3l, drives like a 1.5l. As for the high stance, the pro is that it puts u in a pretty commanding position, the con is that you'll feel the body roll when cornering. Personally, like the Swift better (looks, 1.5l) but need the boot space so opt for Sirion. I got free reverse sensor but it takes a while to get use to 2 irritating beeps. Seat belt and reverse beeping: So when reversing you'll hear 2 kinds of beeping. Edited June 28, 2005 by Aidan
Poserwoo Neutral Newbie July 3, 2005 Author Share July 3, 2005 SE sms me that now Sirion can get -$1k from the listed price of EURO (Nappa leather and 15in alloy rim) 4ATM at 57,488 so after 1k deduct = $56,488 BUT still find it abit ex for a 1.3L car BUT it made in Japan... have been searching a 1.3L car made in Japan to downgrade from my present 1.6 impreza...any views??? Ahhuat 1st Gear July 3, 2005 Share July 3, 2005 Went to testdrive a few cars with my sis ydae (she drove, i sat at the back to be test dummy) Swift was the 1st, sirion was the 2nd. Comparing both, i must say that the swift's interior looks better to me and more solid. The STS salesman must be pissed with me cos I kept knocking the car's interior. But dat was becos I doubted the plastic interior. The ride was ok. The boot space is better than the swift and the seats are versatile. However, I didnt like the turning knobs. To make it more euro, they swopped it! Turning signal on right, wipers on left. I undstd if it was a conti car but for a jap car trying to look like it was meant to be conti, outright ridiculous! The handling of the swift was better (according to my sis) but i think the FC should be better for the Sirion, esp cos it is 1.3 DVVT. The pick up was not bad for a 1.3. However, the SE said that there are no reverse sensors. Instead, he said that the car beeps when the R gear is engaged and that was warning enough. I beg to differ. When we were at Kah Motors, the SE called my sis and offerred her 1.5K discount. she is no longer considering the sirion.

Gilahonda Clutched July 3, 2005 Share July 3, 2005 Anyone got comments on this 1.3L DVVT car??? why not wait for the local distributor for perodua to bring in the new MyVi....heard that there are a few engine variants to choose from.....1.0, 1.3 and 1.5...maybe cost cheaper too......looks exactly like the daihatsu counterpart!! Sunnyr76 Neutral Newbie July 4, 2005 Share July 4, 2005 the swift rear seats are also versatile. just that the boot area is kinda small.. the sirion, its actually meant for the foreign market. the Passo is for the JDM markets. btw toyota own daihaitsu. it actually using the same VVTi engine. the perodua is own by daihatsu, read there will be a Myvii launch in m'sia, and it is based on the sirion/passo. Aidan 1st Gear July 4, 2005 Share July 4, 2005 (edited) If you look under the side mirrors, you'll see it's Toyota. Anyway, whether it's Daihatsu or Toyota (same family), they are renown for their reliability & good FC. If this is impt to u, it's a pretty gd car to get. While I can't say much abt STS (poor marketing & kinda old style mgt), you can still find a very good and friendly technician for your servicing in KOH. Do request for him if u decide to get Sirion. So far, I've got a few frens who "test drove" my car and honest comments were 1) easy to drive 2) pick up is gd except 2nd gear a bit lag 3) FC is great (min 60km/day, i pay less than $200 on RON98) 4) Spacious interior(fren feels it's more spacious then his Vios) 5) Comfortable You decide. Cheers Edited July 4, 2005 by Aidan
