here's my review on the AB cool tints @ $168. solar film for the budget conscious. [:)]

decent piece of work considering the price. they had as many as up to 4 men working on a car at any one time so it's pretty efficient. from the cutting to size of the films to pasting onto the glass took about 2hrs. plus another 1 hr or so of waiting time and it's at least 3hrs. [:|]

film quality i can't really comment but the workmanship's pretty good by my standards. no scratches or bubbles although there's a couple of slightly over-cut corners that leave the glass exposed, not too bad.. [rolleyes]

anyway they have this VLT tester to show the VLT %. mine's 66% for the front two side windows and windscreen (which they claim is OK although LTA requires minimum 70%), 30% for the rear 3 panes. they'll print out a tinted glass check cum warranty card for 5 yrs (if they are still around then, of cos') upon u giving the nod of acceptance. [thumbsup]

last but not least a free car wash is given. the car shall look shiny on the outside now but the insides of the glass panes' still covered with those soap water marks. u gotta wait for 2 days before you can roll down the windows and 3 days before sticking the ERP unit back. [;)]

Bro,

Just to let you know that I've done my tinting at Lextint. I went for the rear 45% IR rejection 40% solar rejection (highest there was 45% but I didn't like the colour). I must say they did a pretty good job. Use spray bottle to apply the soapy solution (which was made from Johnson's baby shampoo, the yellow liquid one). Towels were placed at the panels to prevent the soapy solution from running down the panels. [thumbsup] I did mine on a weekday, 9am. They finished the job in 1 hour with 5 people doing the job in an airconditioned room. I inspected their work, noticed some irregularities. They fixed it up without question.

The test? Passed. Even my Mum when she sat in the car said, "Looks like going to rain." Wife says, "Mmmm....not as glaring as before." I can feel that there's a difference in terms of interior temperature too. Cooler.

For $250, I think it's much better to spend money on tinting than on my previous intention of getting a pair of Oakley sunglasses! [laugh]

Now the price has dropped to S$88.

Good luck to those who paid S$168.

You pay for what you get. There is no free lunch.

The long term durability is a BIG question.

Neutral Newbie

Hi Brock,

just wondering, do you experience after tinting, that at nights the rear windscreen's dehumidifier lines like reflect lights from the vehicles behind [confused]

i don't know if this is normal, not really a problem just a little irritating la [:p]

or any other bros here experience this too after tinting? can it be rectified in any way...tks all

Honestly, I've got no idea. Up till now, have not driven out at night yet to try. But I did notice that the front windscreen, when facing direct sunlight, I noticed very tiny dots of orange on the screen. Like sparkly dust. Do you?
