Holden and Fords, Australian pride failed on them at the most crucial moment. Nonetheless a dramatic chase. [pirate]

TWO police cars had to abandon a 200km car chase because one had a defective siren and the other's radiator hose blew, while a police helicopter crew lacked the necessary maps for the chase.

Two teenagers are being questioned after the high-speed car chase from Sydney's west to Mudgee.

It began when police tried to stop a Subaru WRX at St Marys about 8.30pm (AEST) yesterday, police said today.

They chased the car to the Bells Line of Road.

The Subaru avoided road spikes put down by police at the weighbridge at Bell in the Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Police took over the pursuit.

The chase continued through Lithgow to Mudgee, down the Castlereagh Highway, where police stopped the chase for safety reasons after the Subaru turned onto a dirt track.

Lithgow Police today arrested two male teenagers at about 5.10am after a Lithgow service station worker became suspicious of a vehicle and its occupants.

The teens were being interviewed by police.

Chifley Local Area Command Superintendent Martin Wookey said the two police cars had to pull out of the chase because one had a defective siren and the other's radiator hose blew.

"That's what happens," he said.

"We (NSW Police) have a fleet of I think 14,000 and the cars are new and well maintained, but sometimes there are faults."

The Polair police helicopter tracking the offenders also had to pull out of the chase because of the terrain and rising fog, he said.

The crew did not have maps of the area.

"It (Polair) took off from its base on another job then they were advised about the pursuit," Supt Wookey said.

"They can't carry every map because the helicopter wouldn't be able to take off so they only take the ones they need.

"In this instance they were coming from another job and didn't have the right maps with them."

Supt Wookey said Polair had tracked the Subaru with spotlights and thermal tracking.

"With a pursuit over two hours over 200km and no injuries or damage to property, I am very proud of them (officers)," he said.

Police will wear their opponents out if they cannot catch them. Maybe this is Aussie police. Not many resources. Try US police, they will bring up as many cars as they can just to nail you. laugh.gif Helicopters, spike strip, cruisers, off-road SUVs and K9 units just in case you make a run. dizzy.gif

Eh? Not cop shows. Too many Shocking Police Videos. Actually kinda good to watch. Shows how stupid people can be. Against the police, better don't run or fight. They will make short work out of you.sweatdrop.gif Better surrender if caught committing an offence. Makes things a lot less painful and expensive.

They prefer old method style. [rolleyes]

If you look at their cars, there are better and more affordable cars out there that out handles, out run and out corner their Holdens and Fords but nooooooo .... Holden and Fords rules .... [rolleyes]

On saturday night you'll get to see the police car in action. With the siren on and moving from stand still to 150 in straight line you'll be surprised how slow it is. Engine screaming but car still in the neighbourhood.

I figured the reason air support was called in not because the cars broke down but rather they can't catch up. [laugh]

Police: Hey man ... its a WRX ! we can't catch but we can't let the public know so lets just call in air support alright mate ? [laugh]

Hope the police don't surf this forum. [angel]
