Phohace Neutral Newbie May 2, 2005 Share May 2, 2005 What should I look out for when buying 2nd hand cars? I heard there are some changes in policy few years ago that affect the scrap value (or something like that). What is it exactly? A cousin offer me his 3.5-year Honda civic for $45K and about $5K depreciation/year. Car is serviced by Honda only, not outside workshop. Is this a good deal? ↡ Advertisement

Axeman24 2nd Gear May 2, 2005 Share May 2, 2005 Bro to check whether is it worth it check with your cousin to see what is his paper value less 4% of the paper and plus the body. The body value of civic should be around 7500 to 8500 if it more then 45K it is definately worth buying. Cheers
Phohace Neutral Newbie May 3, 2005 Author Share May 3, 2005 It adds up to be about $48K. So that mean's can buy, right?
Redline Neutral Newbie May 3, 2005 Share May 3, 2005 The ES civics are nice... but the facelifts are so much cooler. ...I especially love the tail lights. With current COE prices and lower Parf, it may make more sense to go for a new ride. ie unless your cousin is crazily accepting a huge loss. Go for it !! Jamjammer Neutral Newbie May 4, 2005 Share May 4, 2005 Hi fellow MCF, Anyone know is it worthwhile to buy Mitsubishi Colt, Feb 04 at $53k, COE $28 and OMV $15k. Is Colt a good car to drive esp in the light of the scandal surounding MMC? Is this offer too good to be true? Wonder how to check whether vehicle "kenna" accident before? Is there a way to verify this? Dealer says "accident-free". Any kind soul to advise me? Thanks!
