Achtung 6th Gear May 1, 2005 Share May 1, 2005 Went to see an Octy. Wonder whats the going rate for one now? A few Ks above Papare Value? or what? How was the price of a mid 2004 Octy brand new? I was rather perturbed when a 2004 registered octy was manufactured in 2002. Any probs with that? Advice please from bros here. Lightspeed Clutched May 1, 2005 Share May 1, 2005 Price for brand new Octy Ambiente was 85k last year... it has now dropped to around 73k if I'm not wrong ... Why not just pop down to the showroom and find out more? My car was manufactured in 2000 and registered in 2001... don't really think it's much of a problem Resale Octys are quite cheap actually ... can check with Cartimes, seen quite a few with them on and off
Achtung 6th Gear May 1, 2005 Author Share May 1, 2005 The paper value is a mere 42K and the owner wants 62K. No way lor.
Fortress Clutched May 2, 2005 Share May 2, 2005 Hi, It is a common occurence to the other continental cars (never owned a Japanese ones) I have owned, I do not see any issues with that. However, I do experienced our local salers (of course they are trying to make a buck), try to lower your selling price, and not the other way round. The only other thing that affects is the lower premium of my insurance, which is great. Understand that insurance calculates the "age of the car" starts then. Note, the reason is probably the BER (beyond economic repair) amounts Make the best out of it. Ivan
Achtung 6th Gear May 2, 2005 Author Share May 2, 2005 Can anyone tell me, whats the normal depreciation for an Octy?
XLR8 1st Gear May 2, 2005 Share May 2, 2005 (edited) Dealer selling around 5.5k to 6.5k depending on the model. Eg Classic, Ambiente or Elegance auto/manual. Maybe private owner can get cheaper. The non facelift Octy(up to early 2001) can get around $5k-5.2k if I'm not mistaken. Edited May 2, 2005 by Relak
Achtung 6th Gear May 2, 2005 Author Share May 2, 2005 (edited) Its an Ambiente Auto. OK, I will gun for 4.8K thereabouts. Edited May 2, 2005 by Achtung
XLR8 1st Gear May 2, 2005 Share May 2, 2005 4.8K for Ambiente auto is a bit low but can still try thru private owners. Or unless you get those with 80% parf then they have to sell at a lower dep. 2003-2004 Ambiente I think kinda difficult to get 4k plus dep. Unless that seller too rich or

Kahlid Neutral Newbie May 3, 2005 Share May 3, 2005 I saw one May 04 going at 62K with OMV at 20K. If you work this out based on a linear 9 year depreciation, that would work out to about about 5.6K depreciation per year. The annual depreciation is slight higher to a new Altis which goes at about 5.5K. A new Octavia costs about 73K.
Vit4wd 1st Gear July 17, 2005 Share July 17, 2005 May '04 Octy going for $62K? You are better off getting getting a brand new one, auto, at $65K. ↡ Advertisement
