Raymond Neutral Newbie April 30, 2005 Share April 30, 2005 Hi,i'm new here. Visited this forum for a while reading & gaining knowledge for a while.Just few days ago got a shock of my life. Was travelling on sg rd.Was side by side with my friend at a traffic light around town area when a volkswagen van came to a stop on my right,1st lane. Never really noticed as its a van. I rev as i was playing with my friend on my left played with me. When the green light "on". To my surprize, the van actually wheel spin & move off...I and my friend just floor acc but could not even reach it(2 cars length away).OMG...Only to stop side by side at the next traffic light. This time, we were well prepared, thinking to give that van a lesson, but when the green "on" again, that van just jump out & move forward tires screech at 2nd gear i think, lots of black smoke though.I was speechless... Just will like to gain some knowledge about the volkswagen van. Made a search on the net but came out with another caddy model. Not then one i saw half car/van caddy. Its that van really so powerfull? I'm driving a 2nd hand honda civic,0-100km is definetely about 7-8sec..so thet van 0-100km is less than that? volkswagen that caddy possible? Any advice is greatly appreciated, would really like to know more bout that van.Its amazing. Think that van is lowered, but definetely had tinted windows and lots of smoke. ↡ Advertisement

Crv2004 Clutched April 30, 2005 Share April 30, 2005 Is your manual or auto, But anyway i don't think that van can go so fast lei.Or is it because you change gera not fast enough. Didn't rev high enough before changing gear

Huggable Clutched April 30, 2005 Share April 30, 2005 Were you driving your Civic at the limit? ie redline at every gear, or at least shift up at max torque/hp?
Crv2004 Clutched April 30, 2005 Share April 30, 2005 Yup i agreed , if it is the verison now 0 to 100 is about 10s and if you driving manual and if you change gear not fast enough, than like that it will take you about 12 to 13s, i tried that before

Liveevil Neutral Newbie April 30, 2005 Share April 30, 2005 i know they are fast. the engine is supposed to be quite powerful as they will be carrying goods. but the problem is sometimes i wonder they can stop in time or not. many times along expressway, i have seen them skidding when the car in front jus brake harder than normal( not even e brakes). safety first. Jamesgetz 4th Gear April 30, 2005 Share April 30, 2005 yes agreed... my colleague drives a VW caddy. totally stock but bloody fast for a pickup car. if i remember correctly, the caddy's peak torque at about 2K to 3K rpm. bloody good low-end torque. should be able to smoke most 1.6A jap cars.
