Hi guys...anyone able to provide me with some info on the following:

i) What does the Magnecor KV85 spark plug cables & Jetracing power cables do to the performance of the car? Approx how much would that cost me? [dizzy]

ii) Read something abt Multiple Spark Discharge (MSD). What does it do & costs? [:/]

iii) What is Short Ram Induction system?? Is it part of a CAI system together with air injector? [confused]

iv) Anyone know what is the cost of an AEM CAI system? Does it come together with the K&N filter?? [crazy]

Thanks for the help...much appreciated! [;)]

Hi Jermy,

I personally think that, IMHO, i) & ii) wouldn't help much if your engine stay as stock wink.gif.

iii) Short Ram Induction is almost like the CAI except that the cone filter is not located near the bumper/wheel arch area/lower part of the engine compartment wink.gif, the tube only extend from the trottle body to somewhere inside the engine where the Cone filter will be located.wink.gif You'll need to fabricate heat shield to prevent hot air (around the engine compartment) getting into the Cone filter smile.gif (attach are the pics for AEM CAI in 01' Civic). No the Short Ram Induction doesn't come with injectorwink.gif. In short, it is actually a shorten version of CAI sly.gif

iv) Sorry I don't have the price of AEM CAI & it normally comes with filter (not too sure if it's K & N)

Hope this helps. Maybe others can provide more info wink.gif

just wondering how come the filter in hidden in a area where there is no access to any air intake?....would it be just sucking in hot air from the engine bay?........

Actually there is wink.gif. The Cone filter is located below the battery & it is near to the Right Fog-lights & also near to the opening/lower grill of the front bumper thumbsup.gif.

I did something similar, I directed a tube from the same location to the stock airbox (resonator being removed) & put a K & N drop-in filter wink.gif. There's definitely an improvement over stock thumbsup.gif

is there an improvement at the low or high end rev of the engine?

is your car's mass air flow sensor still there? didnt see it in the pic.....

Erh!! the pics are not of my car sly.gif. I don't have the AEM CAI wink.gif I only have a flexi-tube from below the battery to the stock air-filter box (without the resonator) & a drop-in K&N thumbsup.gif

The car rev much easier than stock, not much loss on the low end but there's a slight improvement on the high end sunny.gif

Nice looking AEM CAI! Saw one at McWells...kindda interested in installing one. [;)]

Still pretty much confused though...guess i've got lots to learn..

Btw from wat i understand...it's ok to remove the resonator? Is there any side effects? Wat actually does the resonator do? [confused]

I've driving the car without the resonator for more than 9 mths wink.gif The only side effect is you'll be able to hear some noise from the air intake thumbsup.gif The resonator act as a silencer for the air intake wink.gif so, it will restrict the rate of air flow into your air filter, IMO tongue.gif

AEM's tube diameter is the same/constant throughout the entire length, from the K & N cone filter part to the throttle body & it's made of light aluminum (or some other type of metal alloy)wink.gif

ICEMAN tube diameter is not constant throughout the entire lengthwink.gif. It is slightly larger on the K & N Cone filter end & it gradually reducing it's diameter all the way to the throttle body part wink.gif. This design create a slight venturi/Ram-air effect on the air intake.sly.gif It is make of some kind of plastic (don't know what the actual name) & not of metal alloy.

Sorry, as I didn't install anyone of these so I won't know the price & durability part wink.gif. As for performance, was told both will cause some loss in low end torque & improve high-end torque smile.gif.

IMHO, I think the ICEMAN should give a slight performance advantage over the AEM due to the Venturi/Ram-air effect, in theory of causesly.gif. You'll need to check with SHC guys that have experience with both of these & make your own decisionwink.gif

Both of these will required to work with Cone filter smile.gif

Well..will the manufacturer void the warranty if the resonator is removed? Wouldn't mind taking it out...btw u got a pic of the resonator? [dizzy]

Well, I've gone for my 20k service recently & the SA at Kah Motor didn't mention any thing at all sly.gif

The resonator is the 'Kidney' shape box you see in the pics. I have also removed the tube that is connecting to the resonator sly.gif. I've retain the stock airbox with K & N drop-in thumbsup.gif

These pics are taken from this site :
