Hi guys! Does anyone tried to upgrade the sound system of your Optra. I'm just wondering if the Blaupunkt HU has a pre-amp output.

What are you intend to do? component speaker? Do you got Sub woofer? I am looking for a sub preferred build in amp thus can con to HU directly. [hur]

I plan to upgrade the speakers first. I have a JBL separates/components from my old car and have an amp already. Subs to follow. i don't like to dismantle the center console just to look at the rear end of the HU. I want to do the upgrade one time. i'm planning to install a single sub in the trunk with a separate amp.

About your question. A subwoofer with built-in amp can be connected directly to the RCA output of the HU. There are also some models that connect directly to the existing speaker wire. All you have to do is get one of the channels, let's say the left. Then you splice it and connect the wire going to the sub box.

Thanks. after change to component speaker, it improve a lot. But still want a sub. [thumbsup]

I know build-in sub normally not so good. But it is clean and simple. If using seperate amp need to install both, right? [wave]

I am not that hifi fan, just make sure channels are there. I just want make a system with 80% performance, not 85% but cost double. [hur]

The stock sound system is at par... so far. but in search for something better i opt to upgrade the system.

mostly, ready-made amplified bandpass or sub box are good. it avoids the hassle of designing a customized box for the car.

heh, for me, the most is go for another set for the rear door, that complete my so call ICE. Woofer is quite heavy [shakehead] for our car, and it require some serious tuning for it to sound right in a wagon oppose to a sedan. why not just stick with the current setup or just add in 2 good set of speakers at the rear door ? or go for a sub that can fit into one of the empty storage at our car boot compartment if you really need to have that.

yes, it has a pre-amp output.

Just checking, does it only have one (mono)output or does it have a left & right pre-amp output?

Mine's the Optra cassette HU.

Er, unless you are talking about mono blocks, all stereo amps will supply both channels.

Ask yourself this question:

Do you hear sound from the left, from the right or both sides of the speakers, front and back? Do you hear stereo sound?

Hi Bro, I'm talking about the stock HU, not just any amp. Some low end HU only come with a mono pre-amp output and not L/R outputs. Never seen before? I'm not referring to L/R speaker outputs, which are post-amp outputs.

Welcome to the world of cheap HUs. My previous stock Kenwood HU only come with one miserable mono(L+Rsummed) pre-amp output. I'm now asking whether my cheapo Optra stock cassette HU come with one or two pre-amp outputs, not speaker outputs.

Hey bro,

Still interested in the active sub I have? I am still looking around for a more "decent" one. If I find one and if I am in a very good mood.... maybe....... [laugh][laugh][laugh]
